Your truck was sent an OTA to go to 1.7.1 twice in February, but both updates failed0

You also have the following recalls open:
  • 21M08 UNINTENDED TAILGATE OPENING
  • 22B08 ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE RECOVERY

I hate to ask but if you can look mine up I would appreciate it. 1FTFW1E55MFA36093

I know its behind but it would be nice to see if its even trying. I think my battery is week which may be part of the issue. If I don't drive the truck for a day it goes into deep sleep mode.

I also know I have the outstanding windshield wiper motor recall, supposedly parts are on order.

Thanks in advance.

I think your truck is very outdated in terms of its software. It tried several times to update the APIM module in April but failed and now the OTA expired and there is no attempt in queue. The system says the last SYNC update you had was in November of last year.

This is just my opinion, but I feel like this attitude and disregard for instructions is what is dooming most dealer updates. Technicians aren't paid or treated well enough to care, and aren't trained well enough to realize the headaches their ignorance can cause. People doing the updates on their own are reading everything and following instructions more closely and experiencing as much success as dealerships are experiencing failure. And oftentimes, it's the first time the end user did any work on a vehicle, without any training besides reading a how to posted on the internet. Service departments are also so stubborn that they think random people online can't possibly know anything they don't, so if you try to help them out, they completely ignore you.

I wouldn't know you if you were standing next to me, yet I'd wager my next two paychecks that you are correct and they are wrong (or more accurately, lying since they know there's nothing I can do about it).

And I agree; if I find that I'm indeed back in update "lockout", I will be shopping around for other dealers in my area.

It's deplorable, really. It's painfully obvious that Ford dropped the ball on the first batch of the gen14's, and both Dearborn and the local dealerships are dodging any accountability by pointing fingers at each other. The latter insults owners even further by still dishing out excuses of covid/staffing/supply chain issues after banking $18B last year.

That eventually the OTA is going to be pushed to your truck again. There's no way of knowing when that attempt will be made. I've tried calling Ford directly several times and they can't provide an answer. At least yours says the OTA is pending. Some people don't even have that going for them.

Did you have your truck connected to WiFi, or did it download the software on its own connection? From my experience and from what I have seen here, 2.7.1 and below do not require WiFi to download them.

Can you or anyone that has received these updates OTA post their VIN so I can check the release notes on them?
