I see their attempts to update it. Looks like it failed the USB update twice and it asked if they wanted to try the CAN update, although it would take at least an hour, and they always selected to exit. I wonder why they didn't try the CAN update. If they were really working with the Ford tech I imagine they have their reasons.

Thanks for checking on it. Well, they said they were talking with them live and after all of the things for the past weeks, I know they are as hopeful to get it working as me.

Let me know and I'll donate.

CAN update of the IPC takes 4-6 hours, I'm pretty sure it's a longer update than the IPMA if you can't go the USB route.

I started this thread and never expected it to explode as it has with over 1300 replies.

Today I took my truck in for the Trailer Brake recall. They did that update, but I also asked them to look at why I have not received any OTA updates. They checked into it and found the following:

"Attempted to perform recall 22B08 to repair customer's concern was unsuccessful at programing APIM at this time. Attempted to perform process several times using 2 different scan tools.
TSB 22-2150 module recovery procedure will need to be performed as per recall and TSB instructions. Customer will reschedule at a later date."

I should have also mentioned they are asking for the truck for 2 days to do this work on the APIM. But based on monitoring the replies here on this, it could wind up being much longer.
The dealer is Skyline Ford in Salem, OR.

The hell's a "CAN" update, please? That's one acronym on which the Google machine seems not to help, at least not much. Probably something to do with the nature of the word "can" (capitalized or not).

... And, yes, I did search "Ford CAN update". Now I'll try "Ford update CAN".

Some updates require the technician to make a USB drive with the files and that USB drive is then inserted into the truck where the updates upload to the truck and commence that way. If that fails then the technician has the option to retry or try the update via the OBD2 port with a cable that takes much longer. This process via the OBD2 port is what's being referred to as the "CAN" update here in this thread but CAN=Controller Area Network. The attached pdf describes this CAN if you want a deep dive.
