I have a 2021 Job 1 F-150 with the BlueCruise prep package, but I still can't seem to get BlueCruise working. It used to show up as "Coming Soon" in Connected Services online and in FordPass, but that's disappeared in the last week or two. About Sync shows "Hands-free driving mode available through 10-03-2074", but there's no other evidence of BlueCruise in FordPass or in the vehicle.

I've had it at 5 different dealerships over the last 3 years, and none have managed to get it to work. Ford says the dealer has to do it, the dealer says they can't do anything more. The dealer says there are no updates available, but I'm on Sync 23159_PRODUCT (rev. 915) and navigation version 2.76.3r.20220923.a19d9e6c (my free navigation subscription expired on Dec 21st, 2023).

My VIN is 1FTFW1E81MFA03568. Any suggestions and guidance would be highly appreciated
I just read through your warranty history and Northside Ford claims to have done the necessary updates on your truck to activate BC in July of last year. I see your Fordpass app is connected. Go to the app and go to "connected services". What does it say there under Bluecruise?

It used to show "Coming Soon", but as of a couple of weeks ago (not sure when exactly, perhaps Dec 21, 2023 when I hit the 3-year mark), it stopped showing anything about BC. I have Ford Streaming available, Connected Built-In Navigation available (3-year free subscription ended on Dec 21, 2023), and Alexa Built-in active. But BC isn't there any more.

Interestingly, I found a photo of my SYNC screen from August 14, 2023 (after the July date that Northside claims to have done the updates), and it says I was still on Sync 22293_PRODUCT (rev. 610). So I've had a software update since August, but I was definitely not up to date after the July 2023 appointment at Northside.

@rugedraw

TL DR - Bad APIM

Basically the exchange started out with them playing like I was dumb. Armed with the information you provided I was able to politely let the service advisor and tech know that they didn’t access the system to check on updates. I suspect the tech just looked on the update screen in SYNC where it always says up to date. I also had the information on the modules needed update and the failed 1.7.0 campaign. They didn’t want to investigate any further until I asked politely to speak to the service manager. Suddenly they decided to update the APIM. Of course it failed. So, waiting on a new APIM.

Thanks again rugedraw for your help.

Maybe Alexa is going through your cell phone, not the truck internet connection? Try Alexa without your phone connected.

It is possible that your trial period expired, but from what I can see, you should have active BC on your truck. Are you confident you had all the driver assist settings turned on that needed to be on in order for it to work? Unfortunately, 2021 owners free trial of BC expired 12/31/23, so there is no way to verify now if it is indeed working or not.

Hell yea! Chalk one up for the little guys! You're welcome and thank you for your service.

When you take your truck back to them for the new APIM and they call you to tell you it is ready, reach out to me before you go pick it up so I can check to make sure they programmed it correctly. You will still be very behind in terms of updates, but at least you will have a chance for the OTA process to get you caught up eventually.

I'm almost certain I have nearly all driver assist settings turned on. The only one I know of that I disabled is the one that adjusts the cruise control based on the speed limit signs the camera sees. There's a sign on a side street near me that causes me to slow down on the highway suddenly, so I have that disabled. I'll try again with it enabled.

It's unfortunate that the free trial expired. I'll try arguing with Ford because it was sold with a 1-year free trial which I've never had the chance to use, but I'd be willing to pay regardless, if I could get it to work. I don't even have the option to pay in the app or in my browser.

When I get it back from the dealer, I'll double check all the driver assist settings and try again. I'll update the thread afterward. Hopefully it's just user error at this point

Assuming you have all the software for BC to work: If BC is not showing as an active feature in your connected service in Fordpass, nothing you do will get it to work.

On my 2023 F150 (that I have had since March 2023) I have received some updates over time. Today for the first time I got a notice on the screen when I started the truck. It said that an update is scheduled for tonight (at 1am on January 11). The first notice said that it would take between a few minutes and 5 hours, and to check the internet. After I reconnected to the internet, it said the update would be 6.5 and for 12 minutes the truck would be out of service, not even unlocking the doors. It asked if I wanted to cancel or continue.

So I said "continue", which I understand to mean to go ahead and do it. For me 12 minutes at 1am is fine, so long as everything works by tomorrow at 7am. I am hopeful.

It was good to get the notice, and I hope that it is the first of a standard plan of communication that has not been there previously.

The text of the notice says, in part, "Your vehicle will be unavailable for up to 12 minutes. Once the update starts, you may not be able to lock, unlock, or enter it." So I understand that the notice says that lockout starts when the update starts, but the notice never says when lockout stops. One assumes (but it is an assumption) that lockout will end when the update ends. Doesn't say what happens if the update fails, or communication fails, or .... I appreciate the messages (a big step forward) but wish someone at Ford would read them through carefully and be sure that they say what they intend.

Yea, I saw someone on another forum report the same thing. It seems like Ford made some recent changes to the way they communicate OTA's to owners which is a good thing. Hopefully your battery is in a good state. If it fails, lmk and I will check your VIN and let youknow what happened.
