My truck is a job 1 that has been in update purgatory since last year. I had the CSP show up on my Ford pass and took it in to the dealer for them to perform the TSB 21-2250 and they swear they did, even though it only took 3.5 hours.
The problem is they now deemed to fixed and working fine. Still no sync version under the about screen, can't turn on automatic updates etc. But the CSP and TSB are marked completed and they won't relook at it and tell me up just wait. About to just drop the dough and order the mongoose, USB to Ethernet, and get the FDRS license. It's ridiculous. Truck hasn't updated since last July.
Anyone want to check on what mine looks like in the system? It would be greatly appreciated. 1FTFW1EDXMFB13466
On May 5th they tried to update your APIM several times but it kept failing

Do you mind me asking what dealership you are working with? I am going in on Tuesday for TSB 21-2250 and I'm hoping its not the same dealer because I would be irate if they tried to pull that on me.

I don't doubt this is true. My case may be somewhat unique for two reasons:
I'm requesting updates as a means to [hopefully] correct specific issues with my Sync system, so my request is more a "means to an end" than simply asking for updates because I didn't get them or to get additional features.
Oh, I didn't mean you. Your situation is legit warranty work. Essentially, I was just saying that, in general, people aren't going to be able to just roll up at the dealer and say, "Can you apply any outstanding SW updates that are out there for my vehicle?" and expect it to be done for free.
I've had some very rough interactions with this particular service department and have, on multiple occasions, called them out on some blatant dishonesty and misinformation they've fed me throughout this process. These considerations likely afforded me the ability to be a bit more "heavy-handed" with my request than I could have been otherwise. It should also be noted that, while they explicitly agreed to my request, that's by no means any guarantee that they'll actually DO it! I pretty much told them this morning that I don't want the truck back until the Sync issues are corrected (by means of updates or otherwise)... I guess I'll just need to wait to see what they come back with and go from there.
While my work was done under warranty, my ability to get my dealership to go above and beyond for me is easy to explain: I've purchased or leased 13 new Ford and Lincoln vehicles from them since 2006. They like me.
While we're on the subject of dealers' feedback...
I dropped my truck off yesterday morning with explicit instructions to install all available updates; I just got a call about an hour ago that it's "done and ready to be picked up". The tech sent me a video in which he states that he applied the TSB to address the cluster reset and that my Sync is running the latest available version.
I called the service manager to clarify if the tech's statement indicated that he installed the latest version or if he's claiming that it was already running the latest version. The response given was that they "updated the gateway module" and applied the TSB, but did not manually install any Sync updates. When I asked how this is possible, it was suggested that "perhaps something came through over the air after you dropped it off". Seriously?! I also asked if software updates were installed for any other modules (which was also specifically requested) and was told, again, that there are no updates available. He claims they checked with FDRS and another three-letter acronym that I don't recall, and everything is up-to-date.
Now, I've reached my limit with getting BS from this dealer, but I certainly can't dispute what I'm being told until I pick up the truck tonight (and even then, I'm limited to what I see in the Sync settings and FP app data). Prior to bringing it in, another user was gracious enough to run my VIN and found that the following modules had available updates:
The truck was also dropped off with Sync version 21146 r145 / Power-up 2.1.0. From what I'm seeing in the FP app data, it appears I'm now at Power-up 2.1.1 (If there's any way to parse out the Sync version from this data, I'd love to know!):

I suspect I am going to be very disappointed and extremely angry in about 4 hours when I pick this truck up, but without any access to its update history, I really have no grounds for disputing what I'm being told. I'm curious if anyone more knowledgeable can offer some insight as to how much of this "there are no updates available for your truck" story I can believe.
The tech sent me a video in which he states that he applied the TSB to address the cluster reset and that my Sync is running the latest available version.
"Your vehicle is receiving over the air updates" is accurate; I just got my first ever last week. "Sync is at the latest available calibration, there is no newer one" is what I'm having trouble with. It sounds like complete BS to me, especially since I've seen reports of Job2's getting 2.8.x power-ups and running Sync at v22xxx. Obviously I know that not ALL updates are applicable to my XLT Sport 302A High, but I'm having a hard time buying that the "latest available" update for my truck is the 2.1.1 release from January.

Anything short of Power-Up verison 2.8.3 is NOT the latest version.
2.1.1 is from JAN 2022.
There are at least NINE major version updates since then to get you to "latest available", including six (from 2.71 to 2.8.2) that are all required to enable BlueCruise.

Here is a listing of the OTA updates that is from Wikipedia... Not sure if this will help you at all... It may help you look at the new features in the OTA and extrapolate if it is "appropriate" for your truck build. I would think that all OTAs would be applied but some features won't work if the base hardware isn't there but I could be wrong...

Yesterday they updated the IPC and today they did the GWM but your truck shows several module updates including APIM (Sync) and doesn't look like they made any attempts to update these:

Your truck shows pending for the OTA Power-up 2.1.1 update and it is for GWM only but this may be the same update the dealership did today so it probably won't go through. Your Sync version won't change with this OTA.

That's the reference I've been using. Again, I realize that not ALL of those releases may apply to my truck (especially since I did not get the blue cruise prep), but I'm certain this is just yet another instance of them booting it back to me because they are either unwilling or incapable of pushing the updates manually. I'd rather they tell me to go pound sand than feed me this "you're up to date" crap!
Can anyone tell me if/how those power-ups and core Sync version updates appear in FDRS? I don't have the adapter, so I've never seen the program first-hand but watching videos of those that are doing the self-updates I seem to recall the presence of available updates was pretty hard to miss. I'm probably being too forgiving here, but is there ANYTHING this guy could be looking at that could justify him saying there's no newer Sync version???? If not, then this video roughly translates to "F You, we don't feel like doing it"....
