I doubt it; this BCM bricking is only about a week old so I don't think most dealerships know about this yet.

I’ve got a 21 502A 2.7 VIN 1FTEW1EP4MKE08799 that was built in June of 21. Shortly after I got the truck it stopped being able to do OTA updates. I finally got it into the dealership a few weeks ago to get the APIM reprogrammed or whatever they do and it’s been doing updates quite regularly to get it caught up. Last night it updated to 2.8.1 and now the truck says forward collision fault. So I have no adaptive cruise. But I also have no lane keep or lane centering. And the regular cruise won’t turn on either when I shut the adaptive off. Has anyone else had problems with 2.8.1? Anyone with similar issues? Or am I the lucky one? Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to my world, it has to do with the trailer brake recall, at least that is what did it for me. I am in the same boat, but at least I see some light at the end of the tunnel. Same exact issues you are having, mine started after getting the trailer brake recall done, then the 2.8.1 update came and exactly as you say above is what happened to mine. 2.8.2 and 2.8.3 came over fine, however other stuff still not working. Took it in, they had to replace the IPMA (pretty sure that is what they said) and then reprogram it. Has been in several times as I needed the truck for out of town trips, but the last time it was in, I talked to the tech and he said he was getting an error with the BCM (said it did not match factory), so I took it back, uploaded the copy of the OEM BCM from before I made forscan changes and it goes back next week, hopefully with good results. Bottom line, you will probably need a new module, and if you have made any BCM forscan changes, put them back to stock now before you take it in. Good luck

Thanks for the sharing your experience. That is exactly the same thing going on with mine. I haven’t had it back to the dealer yet as it just updated to 2.8.1 a day ago and that’s when the issue started but I did have the trailer brake recall done when they corrected the APIM issue so the truck would do OTA updates. I had made a few changes with forscan when I first got the truck and then my laptop that my stock file was on completely died. So I don’t have the stock file for the truck. Sounds like this could be an issue when I take it in to try to get it fixed? I think I could go through the “common” spreadsheet and manually change things back as I just changed the normal things. That’s probably the only way to do it at this point isn’t it?

yes it is.. In the future, when making backup copies, put them on a thumb drive, that is what I do....

Ya, should have done that to begin with, didn’t anticipate the laptop dying. Is the BCM module the only one that had issues trying to reprogram that should be put back to stock?
At this point with all the issues they are having I doubt they’d be able to blame it on me even if they have issues with it.
Please keep me updated on how your’s goes when you get it back in. Knowing the solution when I take mine in would definitely help I’m sure if they will listen to me.

that was the error the tech was getting, something about the bcm not being stock, so it basically killed the program. I am taking it Monday morning, hoping this will be the last time.... will keep you informed....

they were definitely cool on the fact I had made changes, when I told him I had the OEM program, he was very happy.... I told him I had no problem putting it back to stock... Will just change it back when it is all fixed

Hoping someone can check my truck (VIN 1FTFW1ED0MFB57671) to see if it has had any recent updates, and what is still needed.

Early Powerboost Lariat - got 1 or 2 updates then automatic updates got disabled (for > 6 months). Dealer initially "Cancelled" the job to fix updates at the request of Ford, but later committed to it - said they just did the 22B08 update. My truck screen now shows Automatic Updates as enabled sometimes but still have not received any new updates (even though it is connected to wifi). App and screen do not show the version numbers of Sync 4 (just blank).

All help appreciated!
