With my 21 F150 302a my understanding was that they would push updates to enable trailer assist via sticker. I do not seem to have that functionality the update screen says 2.7.1 it is currently at the dealer and they say that i have the latest software.

Default My theory of a common OTA failure

I’ve posted about this already, but I seem to be getting more messages about it lately. At the end of a some OTA updates, modules need to have to their as built overwritten as part of the normal process. The as built calibration file is downloaded from the server and prior to it installing I think it fails a validation check due to previous edits in the target ECU made with ForScan.

This results in a software update applying to the ECU but the overall update process hanging up, never fully completing or failing to report back to the server that it completed.

My solution is:

- Force rewrite-all for the ECU in question with ForScan

OR

- Use FRDS, select new module install and select ‘NO’ when it asks if the original module has been used even though it hasn’t changed.

After a forced as built rewrite, Master reset sync 4, then disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reboot everything.

It’s a sh**ty process, but it works.

Early Powerboost Lariat - got 1 or 2 updates then automatic updates got disabled (for > 6 months). Dealer initially "Cancelled" the job to fix updates at the request of Ford, but later committed to it - said they just did the 22B08 update. My truck screen now shows Automatic Updates as enabled sometimes but still have not received any new updates (even though it is connected to wifi). App and screen do not show the version numbers of Sync 4 (just blank).

All help appreciated!
I would question if they really fixed your truck. When my truck was repaired with the 22B08 update I had a version of 21146 and 145 showing in SYNC and got the 2.1.0 OTA the very next day driving back from the dealer.

Hey guys. It has been over 2 months since the last OTA update, after getting them every few days. The most recent that I have received was 2.7.4.
Is it possible for someone to take a look to see if there is anything that might be holding up more updates? I have a trip coming up in late September, and am hoping that Blue Cruise will be installed by then.

Thanks in advance.

Default Stuck at 2.7.3

So I had the download of 2.8.3 with the trailer update but it kept on failing and before I read into the forums much. I bought a charger and charged the battery but it failed and then smthe update went away. I took my truck to ford to have the bluecruse installed and when I got it back it was still stuck at 2.7.3 with blue cruse installed. Inhaled fird and asked what I needed to do to get the update and now here I am asking if you could lookup my Vin and see what it says

According to the Ford Power Updates listed in Wikipedia 2.8.1 enables the stickers. I am waiting for that too. I just got 2.7.1 a few days ago.
Today I get a notice on Ford Pass that I will get an update tonight which it says is for Recall 22S17, the trailer brake S/W update. Funny thing is I had that done by the dealer a couple of months ago.

Exactly my concern - dealer blew it off once - I insisted they do the 22B08 update and left it with them for 1 week and still no joy.I was hoping someone could lookup the vin to give me some ammo when I try a third time.

Sorry guys.....I was on a very well deserved vacation down in the Florida keys. Unfortunately, I'm back to work now. lol

I finally got it into the dealership a few weeks ago to get the APIM reprogrammed or whatever they do and it’s been doing updates quite regularly to get it caught up. Last night it updated to 2.8.1 and now the truck says forward collision fault. So I have no adaptive cruise. But I also have no lane keep or lane centering. And the regular cruise won’t turn on either when I shut the adaptive off. Has anyone else had problems with 2.8.1? Anyone with similar issues? Or am I the lucky one? Any insight or advice would be appreciated.
You got 2.8.2 two days ago. Your updates have been coming through like champs without any failures since mid July. Sorry to hear about the issues. Did the new update fix anything?

No OTA history on your truck for the past 60 days. Looks like nothing has been pushed out to your truck in a while.

No updates have been sent to your truck since June 11th when you got 2.7.4. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to get it sent to you. At least your updates have gone through successfully. It could be worse.

Nothing since 5/27 when you got 2.7.1.

Your OTA dashboard shows your last update was 2.8.1 and it failed multiple times due to the battery voltage issue. Your vehicle history has notes saying BC was installed and tested as working at the dealer. Anything done with FDRS will supersede anything OTA. Your truck is reading your last OTA, but that is not necessarily your current software version. Ford's OTA system is not perfect by any means, so you can ignore what your truck is saying and enjoy your BlueCruise. In the future, when a new OTA comes out and gets pushed to your truck, it should correct the software version.
