You may be right about catching up the Job #1 trucks. I got my 1.7.1 lockup fixed on the 14th, Since then I have received 5 OTA updates plus the trailer recall update. Not bad 6 OTA's in 15 days.
I have a job 1 truck as well. What did they do to fix yours? New APIM?
I had update 2.7.4 fail about a week ago and again today. Is there a way to look up why so I can prevent it from happening? I already had the 1.7.1 update failure issue that the dealer had to fix so I am a little worried. VIN 1FTFW1E83MFB93857
I didn't see anyone respond to you, so if they did, apologies for the re-post. I've been out of the office for a few days and am trying to catch up to the thread.
Yes, 2.7.4 failed last week and it failed again 3 days ago. Checking the log, it seems one or more of the files failed to download.
As a PowerBoost owner my views are in alignment with the consumer end.
I suggest:
1. Open the Ford Pass App > My Account (top right corner) > Help > Live Chat > Talk to a real human Ford Motor Co. Representative (Available Monday to Friday 8-5) > tell them what you think of the current OTA update system.
2. If you absolutely need an OTA update and you are technically savvy and your truck appears to be stuck, use ForScan first to try and clear any present DTCs through processes documented here. It generally involves a simple module rewrite of current values, followed by resetting (power cycling) the effected modules, resetting the GWM & TCU, then a Sync 4 Master Reset. You can learn about ForScan here: ForScan 14th gen F150s
DTCs prevent OTA updates if they are in the target module. OTA updates tend to cause their own DTCs after the end stage reboot cycle momentarily disconnects them from the vehicle network, so ForScan is my primary way to resolve these errors. Forscan is a very useful tool for any Ford owner. It's the software equivalent of a 10mm socket.
Also remove any Tunes. Tunes cause lots of DTCs.
3. If you take your vehicle to the dealership for an update you absolutely need, maybe consider making up some BS story about how a lightning storm has made module 'X' act funny so the techs can at least get paid to look at it. The likely result is it will be "updated and no issues found".
This may come as a surprise, but I have never used FRDS to update my own truck. I don't look at my truck as if it's an iPad. I'll continue to chant towards the sky for OTA updates like everyone else.

Thanks. Is that one of the updates that requires the truck to be off? It’s been trying to update when driving. Should I try a master reset to get it to re-download?

Yes, it must be off. As per the screenshot, it states "yes" under vehicle inhibit. When you park, initiate the update, put on the parking brake, turn off the truck and make sure you double click the lock button on the key fob to lock and arm the alarm.
