@BroncoAG
Thanks for the infomation! I have 2 more questions:

1) What's the big different between the Mongoose-Plus J2534 and the VXDIAG VCX Nano? I see the Nano can't do CCM modules.. what are those? Is that the only difference? I just wish that Mongoose wasn't so damn expensive!!!

2) Once I have the setup and I buy the 2 day license, am I able to check for updates without the license weeks later? OR do I have to have an active license to check for updates?

Since I left the dealership BlueCruise has been functional (and pretty nice the few times I got to go hands-free!). So, at least that's the good news.

But since then, until tonight, the bed camera had resulted in a blue screen. Magically it started working. Go figure! (Someone else had mentioned that theirs was also blue-screening after the dealer-performed updates but started working a few days later, so in this case patience paid off.)

What's still wonky is that when I go to connected services (I'd say on the app or on the web, but that's redundant, because in the FP app it just loads the web page), BlueCruise is still listed as "Available" and when I click on "Activate" I get an ERR_3000. I finally called the 800 number for BlueCruise support to inquire about this. It has been "escalated" and I should expect a response in 3-5 business days.

@Livnitup or @rugedraw (or any of the other kind souls) could you please see what you see for my VIN - 1FTFW1EDXMFB06341?

I'm sorry I can't really answer that question. I just found the guide and followed it. According to the guide though it seems the mongoose is more plug n play and the vcx you need to follow very specific guidelines so you don't brick your ecm but again I really don't know exactly I just found the guideline and followed it. And for the second question no you have to have a active license to be able to open the software. I wish I could answer your questions better but I'm just a fellow member who found the guide and followed it so I don't have much if any info on it and would just refer you back to the guide to ask questions in that thread.

The VX Nano has issues with all modules on the new CAN network (Cruise Control Module/CCM, CMR, IPMA). It also causes issues with the as-built data sent back to Ford. No one is quite sure why it has issues. There was a firmware update to it, but I don't know that anyone has tried it since then.

You can only check while the license is active unfortunately. Also, when you buy the 2 day license, do it first thing in the morning as it does it by date, not hour. If you buy it Saturday morning, your license is active until end of day Monday.

Don't forget that you can sell the Mongoose Plus device if you don't plan on using it again in the future. When it comes down to choosing between one device that seems to work reliably and one that doesn't, and the risk is "bricking" a $50-80,000 truck, I'd go with the better option.

Does anyone know for sure if the Mongoose will work with a Microsoft Surface Pro?

There should be no reason it does not work on the Surface Pro. The surface pro runs the full version of windows. The Non Pro version is the one that does not run the full version and only runs certain applications but even that one can be upgraded/unlocked to run full applications.

It works fine with my Surface Pro 6. A USB hub will make things easier when you have to do USB drive updates since there's only one USB port, but it isn't necessary.

Thank you... guess I'll wait patiently for those to roll though at some point in the future. (And will never know when they do?)

And hopefully Ford gets back to me with an update on the BC "activation" at some point this week.

So after no updates and being way behind I tried a partial reset procedure suggested in this thread. I reset the APIM and sent the feedback for Wireless updates not working. I have received two updates this week. I'm still way behind but at least I'm getting something.

I went from Sync version 21146 rev 145 to Sync version 22087 rev 415 and Ford powerup 2.1.1 to 2.6.0.
