No info available for your truck. It says no OTA's available and no OTA updates in the last 60 days. The system says your truck was sold outside of the US, so you'd have to go through a dealer in your country to get more info.
You wonder why they send out the letter specifying the 21G01 fix if they don't prepare the service departments for it.
The reason I decided to finally bring the truck in was I saw some people posting successful updates. Hopefully, they are more common than failed updates.
Unless they've rolled it out to some dealers and not others, but that makes no sense to me. I actually tried calling Ford corporate tech department and no one there knows anything. I think I was better informed than the guy that answered the phone. lol
Yes, that was very helpful, but what does it all to get started?
Once you get all the hardware, download and install FDRS on your laptop. I'd recommend just testing the cable works in Forscan and making sure all is good before buying the FDRS license. Once you're good with the cable working, and you know you have plenty of time available, purchase the license and start with FDRS.
I'd recommend purchasing the license in the morning when you want to start. If you buy a 2 day license, it goes by calendar day, not hours, so you basically get an extra day. From there, you can start updating modules. Make sure you have a charger/power supply hooked up, especially for certain modules that take longer (IPC, IPMA, CCM, APIM, etc.) as it will drop the voltage. I haven't read the document linked in the first post over there for a while, but it was a very good resource and walked you through the process really well. I think it includes some troubleshooting information now too.
This is where I started here
I used the Mongoose-Plus J2534, the Clore PL2320 charger, and a USB drive. I got the 2 day FDRS license and as luck would have it, did it mostly in one day. I would advise to plan for two days anyway because you want the second day to check after it sits overnight and updates itself and FDRS updates.
Hope this is helpful.
Very helpful and thank you for sharing.
Stupid question time: if we perform an update via FDRS and its part of a recall will Ford register the recall as completed or does it have to be done by a dealer?
@Livnitup Thanks once again! Hopefully they can figure out what isn't allowing BC to stay engaged. Maybe the 22P08 program update to the gateway module and map update will fix it.
@Livnitup when you updated your truck to BC, did it update the APIM/Sync module? They are telling me that is not part of the update process, and since it isn't in the update list they wouldn't try to apply to update from 2.3.0 (21281.244) to the 2.5.2 (22034.364).
I took my truck back in Monday and haven't heard boo back yet, so I think it is just sitting there awaiting some divine intervention... If you have a moment to see if anything has been done since Monday, I would appreciate it. VIN 1FTFW1ED8MFB71088
And again, if you don't have time, I totally understand.

This just doesn't make any sense at all; the module updates are in FDRS that any dealership can do (or anyone like me with FDRS access that did it to my own truck) so any dealership claiming to receive the ability to do it later than a different dealership seems laughable.

I was updating all available software in my modules (there isn't something that says Bluecruise update) so on the day when I saw the CMR & CCM updates available there was also an APIM update so I did them all and got Bluecruise working and then after those were done then a new APIM update showed that I also did and that took me to the current version. I believe one of those APIM updates gave me the "hands free" option in Sync settings under Cruise Control. Also, the actual modules that need to be updated depends on whether the truck has already taken some of them via OTA prior to the dealership visit according to the dealer bulletin.

If your VIN shows the 21G01 under Outstanding Field Service Actions then the dealership can do it (or attempt to) and bill Ford for the time

I agree 100%. It's non-sensical. I made an appt for Monday to get the recalls listed on my FSA's done. When I'm there in person, I'll be more inquisitive.
