Software Updates
Where do you even look to see what version that you’re on? Just got my truck two days ago and I’m curious if it’s up to date or is due for an update. I connected it to my home WiFi and made sure the automatic updates were on in the settings.

I took my truck into the dealership last week for the trailer brake recall and asked if they could also do the software updates as my truck has not been updated since Jan and was still on Powerup 2.6.0 update. The tech told me they could not do that as part of the warranty and if I wanted them to do the software updates it they would need my truck for 3 days and their Sync Tech is booked out 6 months. He also said since my truck was built in July of 2021 it wouldn't get any updates for awhile. I ordered the all the parts from amazon and did the updates myself. It took me 6 hours to install all the updates and now I went from Sync version 22087 Revision 415 to now I am on Powerup 2.8.3 with Sync version 22095 Revision 421 with BlueCruise Enabled. I sold everything I bought so it really only cost the $50 for the two day license. It was really easy just more time consuming than anything. I just set aside a Saturday and I had Sunday set aside in case I needed it as well.

Software Update Guide
Just make sure you read the full guide even the appendix as it has some important information in it. I had no issues doing mine following the guide. It took 6 hours start to finish to do all the updates for my 2021 Limited.

Here's a good written DIY guide on using FDRS to update your truck : https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thre...ing-fdrs.8249/
I could even see starting a thread or sub-forum dedicated to finding people than own adapters in your area... I imagine people could "rent" them out for $25 per use and get their investment back pretty quickly lol
I followed another guide so I take no credit for it but here is what I followed. I know there was another thread that I found on here with this video but I can't seem to find it.

How easy/fast was it to sell the adapter? The cost is what's kept me from self-installing updates, but I'm wasting a lot of time & effort with my dealer and getting nowhere. I've considered grabbing one from Amazon and simply "returning" it after use, but would definitely prefer a lass shady strategy.
