My truck goes back in on June 7th to fix the auto update dilemma. This is like the 6th or 7th time it's been in for this issue. Hopefully they can fix it this time.

I went from Sync version 21146 rev 145 to Sync version 22087 rev 415 and Ford powerup 2.1.1 to 2.6.0.
I've been following this thread pretty closely, but I think I missed that. Do you remember where you saw it? Tried searching with no luck. Can anyone do this, or do you need forscan?

Thanks. You need Forscan to reboot the APIM. I could try the other things, though.

You can reboot it by holding down seek forward and the power button at the same time.

Figured I'd share, got an Power-Up overnight which got me to 2.8.2 (version 22034_product, revision 364). Job1 truck, manually updated via FDRS couple months ago to get bluecruise.

Just checking FordPass and it says the same thing for mine. Hooray! I haven't checked my Sync screen to see if my rev is higher than 364. It's been that way since BC was manually installed by the dealer. I still love my BlueCruise and smile everyday that I use it.

After 11 long hours of trial and error, success! My 2021 Job 1 Lariat (without BlueCruise) has been updated to the latest Sync and module software. I want to share a few tips and clear up some misinformation that is out there, specifically about how to do the USB stick updates to modules such as the APIM, GWM, and IPC.

The primary bit of misinformation/partial information is what to do when the initial load from the USB to the truck is complete, and the display says "Restart Required". Some online sources say "open the driver's door, wait 10 minutes, blah blah...". That's not at all accurate. You need to open the driver's door, THEN CLOSE THE DRIVERS DOOR SO THE TRUCK CAN SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. This can take quite a few minutes. And in order to get it to shut down, MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE THE AREA WITH YOUR SMARTKEY. A great way I learned to identify when the truck has truly shut down is when the ambient LED lighting around the USB ports in the back have turned completely off. When that has occurred, you can then restart the engine and the installation process can continue. Remember to leave your laptop on, with FDRS still running and the Mongoose cable connected. When you restart the engine after the truck has shut down, you should get a message within a few minutes that the update is completed and to remove the USB drive from the truck. Then YOU SHOULD PUT THE USB KEY BACK INTO THE LAPTOP and click the "Yes" button in FDRS to acknowledge a successful update. FDRS will then read some data from the USB drive, do any necessary post-processing and additional work for the update, and will also update your "as built" information in Ford's systems.

And for those of you who had a USB update fail and are tempted to try a CANbus installation, DON'T DO IT. It takes many, many hours. And still might not work.

Hope this helps, and thanks to all for the various bits of information, insight, and experience that got me to a successful outcome.

Can you confirm that you now have the ability to use your hitch and bed cameras while at highway speeds? Thanks.

I just did mine on saturday and I can confirm I can use my bed camera and hitch camera at speed. Before using the Forscan changes I could use them but I had to be stopped to change to them and the bed cam didn't work on the side screen but now I can pull up the bed cam on the side screen and the hitch on the large screen while driving.
