Software Updates
And to be clear....YOU called me a fool for not being irate when my truck had a minor problem updating itself.....otherwise drove and operated perfectly. I didn't call you a fool because of Fords broken promise to you. I called you a fool for buying a product that didn't exist at the time. I had to learn that lesson the hard way too......but in $100 video games rather than a truck. Call me whatever you want, but I'm not the one who put down money on promises, you are.
I CLEARY said, "only a fool would accept the fact that the vehicle they paid huge money for isn't operating as it should nor as promised and it's no big deal".
If you can't tell the difference between those two statements, I can't help you.
My statement was about people in general, not about you only.

I dropped my truck off Tuesday night for a Wednesday appointment at my dealer for the 21G01 software update. I got a call Wednesday afternoon that it was going really slow and they would need to keep it an extra day. Thursday afternoon I got a call saying they ran into some problems and they were waiting on Ford engineers to get back to them and it was going to take at least anther day and they could not give me the truck back but if they couldn't finish it by Friday they would figure out a loaner for me. Got a call about 2 hours ago that Ford had fixed something on their end and everything was moving forward and my truck should be ready this afternoon. About 10 min ago I got the notice from Fordpass that "Hands-Free driving is now available"!!! Hopefully they don't run into any more issues finishing it up and I can get it back in a couple of hours.
They claim everything went through today, which likely would have been every single module update from Power-Up software update 1.6.0 to 2.8.3.
While I have documented my 2m 4d journey getting this resolved, I've asked the dealership to provide any additional details relative to what they did over the last couple days to get over the hump. They did mention some new instructions from Ford that came out in the last few days, but didn't detail. If they share it, I'll share it here.
No, I did NOT say, "you are fool for not being irate when my truck had a minor problem updating itself".

If you can't tell the difference between those two statements, that's YOUR problem, not mine.

I understand the anger and frustration, but I can't honestly join in it. I have loved the ~10 months and 8K I have put on it. Totally worth the 5 months and multiple delays I waited to get it. Nicest vehicle I have ever owned. I knew that buying a Job1 truck, in the first year of a series, and smack dab in the middle of the Global Coof, was going to have some issues associated with it. So far, (knock wood) this software issue has been the only bump. I can't think of a more First World problem than having an otherwise running and driving fantastic vehicle whos only problem was that it wouldn't update itself via the internet, especially with what has happened in the last couple of years, and what is going to happen in the next couple of years, globally speaking. So yeah......it's not a huge deal to me. I hadn't said anything about the way Ford has handled the BC rollout, and the folks who have been waiting. I think Ford has done a Godawful job at that, and am damn happy I was able to avoid it when I built my truck.
Again, I was generalizing about anyone who will accept below average products as "normal". If you took that personally, I can't help you.
You really should try the decaf.
I never said one thing about how you should act or react. Temperament was never mentioned. Not once.

Maybe don't start with the name calling. I didn't "accept" shiite. I was an adult about the problem and did what it took to get it fixed.
I'll try the decaf if you have a bran muffin or two. I hope your truck is all fixed as well. They sure drive nice.
Come to find out I did have a small bit of progress while the truck was at the dealer this past week. My Sync is now at 22087 Rev 415, so not sure if this equates to the APIM update for 2.5.x or 2.8.x.... Still no Blue Cruise, but at this point I will take a few small wins just to keep my head in the game...!!! Maybe things will start trickling in now...
Bluecruise is active and I have the rear facing cameras while driving now also. I didn’t drive it much yet but we’ll see if the other bugs are gone once I drive it a bit more.
Looking for some guidance on how to proceed from here. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated...
I'll try to be as brief as possible since I've already posted in detail about my saga with this truck. My Job 1 (12/20) 2021 XLT 302AHigh 4x4 SCrew Sport is running Sync version 20262 r229. To my knowledge, I've never received any updates since its purchase in Feb 2021. In the time since, I was TOLD my APIM was replaced (I can't verify this with any of my service invoices, but was told by dealer it was replaced), "flashed", and re-programmed. I've also had the TCU replaced, which resulted in the loss of all modem connectivity, including fordpass, and most recently had the gateway module replaced. Following the GWM install, I dropped the truck off at the dealer Monday morning to have it programmed and any pending updates installed. They had it for four days, claiming to have had to replace yet another unspecified "module" (also not indicated on the invoice), and notified me yesterday afternoon that it would be ready for me to pick up.
When I got in the truck (after service hours), I was infuriated to see that I am STILL running the same Sync version 20262 r229!!! That being said, I did note the following progress:
What I did NOT see, however, was the installation of any system updates by the dealer, and it appears that several of the sync issues that have plagued me since day one (like cluster nav malfunctioning/blank info cards/etc) are still glaringly present. Installing updates was explicitly requested and agreed upon by the service manager - prior to and at drop-off. I also asked him to confirm updates were installed when he called me to say it was ready and he assured me "yeah - it's all set". Based on my previous experience, I'm all but certain it will need to go back to service. Unless I miraculously start seeing OTA's over the weekend, I have zero intention of entertaining the "give it another week or two and see" suggestions I've been fed for the last 15+ months!
What I'm asking for here is any guidance or suggestions on the best or most effective way to approach this with the dealership. As of 6pm last night (after I picked up the truck) 1.7.1 is showing a status of "canceled" in my fordpass widget data. I called the OTA support team earlier today, who also confirmed they were seeing the same information. They opened yet another case ID, but before I go storming back to my dealer I want to make sure I'm not saying or requesting anything that will prolong this headache any more than it has to...
Have a good weekend everyone!

- Auto-update options are once again able to be viewed/changed in my sync settings
- I was finally able to authenticate the vehicle with my FordPass app and it appears to be working properly
- In the 3 trips I've taken since picking it up last night, I've not experienced the MyView reset (although I'm definitely giving this one a few more days before considering it resolved)
What I did NOT see, however, was the installation of any system updates by the dealer, and it appears that several of the sync issues that have plagued me since day one (like cluster nav malfunctioning/blank info cards/etc) are still glaringly present. - Is it unreasonable or unprecedented to make such a request? I'd like to think that, after a year and a half of failure, requesting a manual installation of updates isn't a crazy thing to ask (especially since they SAID they were doing it several times previously), but I want to be prepared for any BS that I might encounter.
- Is there any specific code or "insider language" I should be using to more clearly express what I want? Any specific SAs or TSBs that would clearly dictate a manual system update?
- How can I determine what updates exist that are applicable to my specific vehicle? I have found notes on at least 20 updates that have been released... obviously, I know not ALL of them will apply to my truck, but given that I don't really have any confidence in what I'm being told by the service manager, I'd like to be prepared for a scenario in which they simply find some low-hanging fruit to install without really ensuring my system is current. Thus far, they've been the human equivalent of the "Your system is up to date" that's been displayed on my sync screen since last February.
- Are there any updates that REQUIRE dealer installation? I seem to recall a big one a few months back (possibly 1.7.1 but I'm not certain) that many suggested was too large to be sent OTA, but again; I'm anticipating pushback and double-talk, so I want to be sure.
Have a good weekend everyone!
I posted this in another BC thread, but I'll cut & paste it here. It's about all I can share relative to my 2+ month journey getting everything updated and working.

After a very long time in the shop (2+ months), multiple IPMA and APIM module replacements and countless hours of programming attempts, I finally picked up my BC enabled Platinum yesterday.
Throughout the process, it was clear that they WERE working on it almost every day (I have all of the FDRS history to back it up). There was a bad batch of APIM modules as well as a bad batch of cables (for programming directly via Ethernet). There were numerous times when the servers that hosted the firmware for FDRS were hosed (notably for APIM, GWM, TCU and IPMA modules to name but a few). They replaced the IPMA module at least twice and the APIM three times.
The last day they programmed was yesterday (FRI). I had taken the truck back for one day the day before (THU), as I needed to move my kid home from college, but returned the truck THU afternoon.
They fully charged a brand new battery overnight (THU) that they had installed a few days before (either they jacked up my battery doing all the programing or it truly was bad)n and reset the BMS (battery monitoring system). When they came in on FRI AM, the truck had a fully charged battery and, with a few burps here and there, they were able to apply EVERY SW module update needed to go from Power-Up 1.6.0 (July 2021) to 2.8.3 (March 2022), resulting in Sync version 22095 Rev 421.
There was a supplement that Ford issued just a few days before that I believe involved ensuring that the battery had to be (at minimum) between 12.5V and 12.8V throughout all the programming.
The modules that seem to be pivotal to the rest of the modules being able to get updated were the GWM (gateway), the TCU (Telematics control unit), APIM (accessory protocol interface module) and IPMA (image processing module A).
I wish I could do a "here is the ROOT CAUSE" write up, but so many different things were changed and tried, it's hard to say what combination ultimately resulted in success.

ok, I think we all had enough of this. Let's get back on to the Topic. Thank you
