We may be in the same boat. My truck came back last week after a GWM replacement. If by "unstuck", you mean having the ability to view your sync version and manipulate your auto-update settings & schedule, then we're on the same page. Unfortunately, I don't believe this has (or will) actually allow for OTA updates, as my Fordpass widget still shows that 1.7.1 is not installing (and presumable preventing any subsequent updates). The XML data from the widget indicates this update as "Cancelled".

In my case, I had specifically requested a manual installation of any available updates (and was told this was completed), so I was more than a little frustrated when they returned my truck with the same 20262r229 Sync version that's been there since I bought it a year and a half ago! It was only after I called the service manager that I was informed the update(s) "wouldn't go through", and that they were contacting Ford for "any ideas"...
