Count me among the holdouts, too. Me: "It's more complicated. The original version just worked." M$: "But it's better!" Me: "But I don't like it." M$: "But it's BETTER!"
Just like the "Ribbon" in office.

Does the "Snipping tool" have anything to do with cut\copy and paste? For some reason starting a couple of days ago I always have to use "Paste special" whenever I cut or copy something. Paste alone has quit working for pasting text.
Ok guys. What is wrong with it? I use it all the time without any problems. My only complaint was finding it. My old version was on my bar, but the new version bypassed. I had to find it and put it there manually, but other than that, no problems in 10.
I wasn't aware of it only being a Word function but I do use pasting mostly with Word or Word Pad. It does a lot of different things like formatting or even removing link associations. It depends on what has been copied. The worst I run in to now is when text is all on one line and I have to put in the enter\returns to keep something on one page instead of one line. I assumed it had something to do with something I did on my computer until this "snip" complaint came up.
Here's an example. I was going to try and answer a thread and had to recreate the formatting of this by retyping it and finally said the hell with it.
"The study found that although the CAN standard stated that some access controlled operations--such a reading sensitive memory areas like the ECU operating program or security keys--could be denied outright if considered to risky and some memory addresses defined as locations that the ECU will not permit to be read under any circumstances, experiments verified that this was (surprisingly) not implemented in some cases, even for the Device Control Security Key required for reflash operations.
The instrument panel cluster could be controlled completely, including displaying arbitrary messages, falsifying fuel level and speedometer reading, changing illumination and so on. Disabling communication to and from the engine control module (ECM) when the wheels were spinning reduced the speedo reading to 0. Disabling communications to and from the body control module (BCM) froze the instrument cluster in its current state. The engine could be turned off in this state but then would not restart without re-enabling communications to the BCM."

You could also set up a "hot key" for snip. Set it up so that it goes directly to "square" mode. That would probably be the quickest way. I haven't done it yet, might! If I get the urge to tinker lol
