isn't that going to find its way into the bearings, and leak out?
3 litres is the full fluid capacity level of the OEM cover.

I will let some gear oil out tomorrow after I find a quiet spot with level ground.

Why are you messing the rear end anyway..... (?) good snit in there and it lasts forever..... Some in this house may disagree I expect - Ford did something right there.

Axles are good for about 225,000...they wear out before the bearings do. True story!

I wonder if she can weld body panels with a gasless MIG? Patience and the right settings are key. It didn't turn out that bad... not pretty because all you can do is tack most of it.

Carpet goes over it, and you're usually the only one under it. As long as it's solid, it would be fine with me.

Yep. The other side tore in the same spot. My old street racing days took a little toll on it. My Dad reinforced the other side with 1/4 steel years ago. It hasn't budged. Thought about doing that on the passenger side too, but this will be a permanent fix. I need to research, but as I recall, the SSP cars were reinforced here. So were 'verts.

EDIT: I also wanted to keep this from getting overly hot. The fuel line runs right under this. I put some leather around it, but I am overly cautious with fuel, and working in the garage. I had two extinguishers and a spray bottle handy. The original owner had it undercoated... and that stuff likes to burn.

I love the Milwaukee pruning blade in a sawzall type saw.
Used that a little bit yesterday to dice up some 3" branches. Well, a Porter cable Tiger Saw with 6 and 12" Milwaukee punning blades. Those blades are bad azz. Made quick work of it.

The future son in law and I were cleaning up a piece of land yesterday. Kind of a bummer, both of us purchased new Sthil chainsaws a couple years ago, at the same time....thought we were going to get a chance use them again. Nope! 90% of the branches were smaller, dead, rotted, -broke up by hand and fit in the trailer.

We got to look at the saws all day though....looking pretty on the tail gate lol

I used a HF blade... took forever, but it was a lot cleaner cut than my chainsaw did on the post I did last year.

The car show on the 7th is going to be a long shot at this point. Patiently waiting on paint to dry is not a skill I have. Hopefully I get some time after work throughout the week to get it wrapped up. I did, however, dig out my spare center console. It's in much better condition than mine was - so it's going in there. Just had to fix the ash tray door and clean it up. I've been packing it around for at least 10 years, LOL.

Parked on level ground today. Drained out about 600-700 ml of excess rear diff oil.
This stuff doesn't last forever....
The oil that came out was greyish metallic in appearance. In 3000 km's the oil turns into that ?
Mind you I was hauling stuff on that mileage.

I'm changing the rear gear oil as soon as I get the chance.....
