I saw something about people 3D printing hand guns so why not? What are the limits now with materials for 3D printing? Last I remember seeing was about various powdered metals, some of which had limited heat treating properties. I imagine that has advanced from when and what I saw?
My Buddy just bought one to recreate tail light housings, and add led surface board mount provisions.
EDIT: Ohio, does that printer have a transfer ribbon? If so, chances are that will need replaced or carefully cleaned. I've had a defective cartridge lay big lines down before, but not a full sheet. My guess is you're going to be doing some cleaning.
Don't know if there's a transfer ribbon, but good news: If I print something that's only black and white (or set the print to *be* black and white), it prints fine. Any demand for color, though, and the possessed printer proceeds to produce a plethora of perturbing pinkish-purple pages. ..

At $4,500 each they better at least make me dinner or more!
Tail light housings? Wow. Considering what has happen with the price of printers that started with dot matrix I imagine in not too long 3D printing will be common in most homes. I even saw on TV last night where a hand held scanner was used to make an exact computer rendering of an old Egyptian skull which was then downloaded to a 3D printer to duplicate the skull. The requirement of once being a proficient cad 3D modeler is now a thing of the past. It's all pretty amazing.

Probably doesn't have a transfer ribbon then, and your assessment of the magenta cartridge is correct...

I spoke too soon. Tried to print out a floorplan before a site walk, and was accosted by a full page of pink again. The successful prints were from a cold start. Turned it back off and will experiment more tonight, I guess.

Hey White, does your Dewalt say Made in USA or Assembled in USA. Mine says assembled and then somewhere in the fine print it says assembled in the USA from foreign parts and materials.
Edit look like I got it wrong, here is their logo.
