Mine was bricked last year due to a faulty update that Ford sent out. BCM updates can be very risky.

Default 6.5.0 Update - BUGGY

Hey All -

Does Ford even do UAT on these updates?? My truck updated to 6.5.0 on December 13 and the first time I turned the truck on, the screen didn't even turn on. Now, as of three days ago, CarPlay isn't even an option (for either wired or wireless). I can only use Bluetooth. Also, and this is SUPER odd, but whenever I decelerate quickly (and I have tested this multiple times) my screen turns black for a split second. I have no idea how that is even possible. Anyone else experiencing any issues? I have a 2021 Ford F-150 XLT.

If I purchase the FORSan cable and install the software, can I perform the same updates they are going to do or do I need to take it to the dealer?

FORScan will not work to perform module updates. If your dealer is willing to help you with the issue, I STONGLY suggest you give them the truck and let them do their thing. You have been sent updates many times between May and now, and they all fail because the OTA expires. There seems to be something wrong with your truck's ability to talk to Ford's servers. Let them fix it.

The issues you are describing I have never heard before. Maybe a bad or partial install of the update that corrupted something? This may go beyond my scope of knowledge, but post or PM me your VIN and I'll see if I see anything that helps.

OTA seems to have installed fine. It is only one file in the SCCM that changes, which has nothing to do with the APIM that controls your touchscreen. Your truck is not recording any DTC's relevant to what you're describing, either. Sorry I cannot be more of help. Looks like a trip to the dealer is warranted if the problem persists.

If you have FORScan, try resetting the APIM. If you do not, then turn on the truck and once everything bots up, hold the radio power button and forward seek buttons together for 10 seconds or until the touchscreen reboots to reset the APIM.

Always on WiFi, and SOC typically in the 90+ range. I have even started applying the parking brake and setting the headlight switch to the off position (not the auto position) to ensure all of the so-called "pre-conditions" are met. I assume, based on previous experience, that I am not alone, but wanted to verify that this is the case. Thanks all!
You're lucky. My 21 has NEVER recd a update.

I am on 6.5.0 now and will note a couple things that occur from time to time with my truck spanning quite a few different updates.
1. Sometimes AA will not connect wirelessly. Plug in the USB and AA comes on as long as it is physical connected.
2. Sometimes AA Google Maps will not go full screen. If I select NAV(Ford) and go full screen, and then switch back to AA Maps it will be full screen.

Little issues that I can live with, given that some job 1 2021"s are in update he!!.

I found a couple hour drive helped kick in some of the early updates.

I got all the way up to 4.3.5 way back in early August on my '21 Job 1 F-150. A few days later it started trying to load 22-PU1009-PPO-SI, which it continued to try and fail up through mid October (with some 50 attempts, many with a battery charger connected). After all those failed attempts, nothing more has happened.

It seems like watching this thread I got most of the worth while updates, but I am sure there are additional things that would be nice to have. I started this thread over 2 years ago when most of us were unaware we were stuck on the bad firmware and Ford then had to have the dealers intervene to get them unstuck. I guess it is time to stop worrying about Fords crappy OTA update program and enjoy my truck.

Having same two issues but with Apple CarPlay. Sometimes AC will not connect wirelessly. And sometimes my AC Google Maps app will not go full screen. It will just be half of the map and the other half is blacked out.
