Are most people now consistently getting all of these 6.x updates I see being reported? My 2021 Job 1 is still wallowing with 4.2.4 as the last OTA from back in May, so none of the 4.3.x or 6.x.x updates have reared their heads for me yet. Always on WiFi, and SOC typically in the 90+ range. I have even started applying the parking brake and setting the headlight switch to the off position (not the auto position) to ensure all of the so-called "pre-conditions" are met. I assume, based on previous experience, that I am not alone, but wanted to verify that this is the case. Thanks all!

A lot of people are, and a lot of people aren't. I never got any of the 6.x.x updates. I did some myself with FDRS on Thanksgiving, more have been released since then and I haven't gotten any of those, either. The new IPC update that came out well take me 6 hours to install. I'm not looking forward to that.

Hey, @addabob. Long time no chat. As you should recall, I've got a 2021 Job 1 5.0 Platinum.

Since my initial debacle that went on for ~2 months in early/mid 2022 and then applying my own updates with FDRS and my Mongoose on 13 JAN of this year, I've received everything since then via OTA without issue. Haven't had to break out the Mongoose once. The last update was 6.5.0 yesterday when I got home from work. I did not/have not needed to do anything special - parking brake, headlight switch, pat your head and rub your belly, etc.

With all that, I will NOT be paying the King's ransom to continue BC after the end of this year. It was supposed to be $600 for three years back when I bought the truck. Now it's $800 per year. FTS.

I went back through this thread to find the links to those two posts. After doing so, I think I can feel a migraine coming on ...

Yes, comments like this make me wonder if I should even be dabbling with the idea of trying to do these FDRS updates myself. I have a Mongoose that I used for FORScan changes, but some of these statements about updates taking hours and hours, or needing USB drives and special handling of certain packages for which I have no understanding of make me wonder if I would be destined to brick my truck... But then again, if BC 1.3 IS coming to 2021s, I would REALLY like that hopeful improvement.

Hey
@roadPilot . Yes, I watch all the posts, and have @rugedraw check things for me probably more than I should. I am trying to let the OTA process work, which it has since the March 2022 timeframe, but I have seemingly hit a wall since early May. Hopefully, things will start flowing in again here soon.....

Check your inbox and spam for an email from Ford. All Job 1 owners were offered 3 years of BC for $600.

All you need is a USB drive and a good power supply for your battery. Amazon still has the 20amp Clore 2320 on sale from $180 to $80. APIM, GWM, TCU and IPC updates require a USB because the files are two large and/or do not communicate with the module network via the CAN network and have to be USB. All you do it pop the USB into the truck and follow the directions on your touchscreen and FDRS. CMR updates will take an hour, IPMA will take a few hours and if the IPC does not work via USB, it will take 6 hours. All you do for these lengthy updates is kick off the update and go about your life while it does its thing. If you decide to take that route, I would wait for everything needed for BC 1.3 to come out before you do it.

Or go to your account online and look in the "Connected Services", click on the renew on the Bluecruise tab, you should see the $600 for three years there as well.

Oh, I have all the charger gear that would be needed, right down to that same Clore PL2320... I use a Genius 10amp hardwired as my main go-to for maintenance. At some point, I will just have to decide whether the risk of bricking a truck that is operationally fine, just not up-to-date on SW, is great enough to spur me over the edge. It probably will if/when BC 1.3 comes out and is allowed to be installed on the 2021s. But I will admit, I see everyone post about these recent, recurring 6.x updates, and I am envious.

I just received 6.4.0 and see I'm at Version 23291 Revision 1049. I noticed the Hands-Free expiration date has disappeared. Although I have a 2022 Job 1 with about 18 months left on the original BC 3-year subscription, I wonder if I can renew early for an additional 36 months at $600 and kick the can further down the road for the proposed $800 a year subscription?
