I'm getting these updates rapid-fire. I've gone from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 to 4.2.3 in the course of about 4 days.
Similar experience here on my Job 2 2021 XLT:: 4.2.1 on April 27th, 4.2.2 on May 3rd and 4.2.3 on May 8th. Thankful that my truck seems to do the updates without a hitch so far.
Still stuck at 3.5.2. Rugedraw, when you have a chance can you check VIN 1FTFW1E84MFA54210 again?
I am off on a road trip tomorrow for several days.
Thanks

3.5.3 was sent to you yesterday and is sitting in your queue right now. Next time you start the truck, it will start trying to download the files. Good luck. This update has a very high fail rate to install.
Thanks Rugedraw! Do you see the total number of files in this string by chance? Just wondering how close to the end I might be
I just wanted to offer this up... I don't have "proof" of this, but I know when I received the 3.5.x updates, they all came via the cellular connection and not via my WiFi. My mesh network app shows data up/down loaded into each device on my network. During these updates, I never had any network traffic to my truck. But I took a 1.5 hour drive and after parking, 3.5.2 was installed on the next key cycle. This was the same for 3.5.3 when I made the same 1.5-hour return trip home. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but that particular update never came via WiFi. I have just received 4.2.x via WiFi, so I know it is generally working...

Many OTA triggers when they are sent sit in queue awaiting the next time a truck is turned on to initiate the install process. Let's say you get an OTA trigger at 10am while your truck is parked and you're at work. If you go out to lunch at 1pm and start your truck, it will kick off the install. If you don't go out to lunch and start your truck at 5pm to go home, it will kick off the install then. If you happen to get the OTA trigger while you are already driving, the update will download and install right away.
I'm assuming they meant the PCM? I agree they are coming up with stuff to dissuade you from persisting.
Let's say your APIM is three updates behind. The update that appears in the software they use to update modules would be the first of the three and not the latest. So if there is an APIM update showing and more pending, the only thing that happens when they update the APIM is that another APIM update shows up on the list. Many modules have to be updated sequentially. I'm some cases, one module has to be updated before a different module can be updated. When that is the case, the module that needs another module to be updated first will not appear on the list of modules that need updates until the other module gets updated and then the other module will show an update. The truth is, Ford made the software fairly easy to use.
So, after a discussion with the service manager at my local Ford Dealer and my truck having been there for four days without it being connected to the system...it seems they came through!
I received a message Friday that they attempted to perform updates and they failed so they would try one more time. Evidently, something worked Saturday and they kept it connected over the weekend. Everything was wrapped up and delivered Monday afternoon. Now, what's interesting is they said they updated everything EXCEPT BlueCruise, because that was not allowed by Ford. However, when I opened up my Ford Pass app on my iPhone, it shows that my first free year of BlueCruise was activated on May 6 (coinciding with Saturday when they were able to make updates). It is also showing the Amazon Alexa built-in trial available. I'm very glad to have my software updated and pushed past 2.8.1!!! I guess only time will tell if BlueCruise is actually activated or not.
As expected 4.2.3 arrived today. Not convinced it really adds much to the equation.
But it proves that the truck is in good shape to accept more updates as Ford releases them. This is an update that vet’s received while you are driving around.

Not a single OTA released for the gen14 F150's require wifi to be downloaded. People smarter than me have said that even if you are on wifi, OTA download via the trucks cellular plan. I cannot confirm that myself, but I can tell you for sure that wifi is not needed to get an update.

Glad to hear! If you have Alexa, you are updated past bluecruise and have full-screen carplay/android auto, cameras in motion, etc.
You got lucky. They got your truck updated and didn't even know what they were doing. Yes, it is true Ford has a hold on the bluecruise programming. However, they obviously did not know that fully updating the truck would give you bluecruise programming by default. Lucky you.
