Well all I can do is try I guess. If the dealership refuses I'll go the manual route. I have done Forscan mods so I'm familiar with FRDS and it looks like the guide to do the updates with the Mongoose is very comprehensive which gives me high confidence in performing the updates myself. Agreed 100% that is a small price to pay to get the truck I paid for. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd want to sell it in the case that I need to perform a manual update again like you have. I saw the waiting list for yours on there. I might throw my name on the list but I tend to be impatient with these sorts of things. Haha. Not sure how the wife will feel about me spending $540 on an update tool though so I might have to wait. Sounds like it would be easy to resell if I decided to though. Thanks again!
Yes, FDRS guides you through the process step-by-step. If you run into any issues, you post on the thread you were reading, and the gurus that follow that thread will respond sometimes in real time to your questions.
In my case, I updated the second time because I was sick of waiting for the update to come in for full-screen android auto. I already had the Mongoose, so it only cost me $50 for another FDRS license. As much as I hated to reward Ford with more money as a direct result of their ineptitude, I just wanted the update already. lol
I received the following OTA updates:
2.7.3 03/19/23
3.5.2 05/09/23
3.5.3 05/16/23
I would not be too excited about that. You missed a bunch of updates in between. 2.7.4, 2.8.1, 2.8.2 and 2.8.3 were all supposed to come in before 3.5.2 did.
Yes I have full screen Car Play. My button is on the top left under the clock
