I don't see anything different on the dash screen. I did have to reconfigure myview. I had to reactivate Alexa as well.
I think this may be a precursor to bluecruise 1.2 coming to our trucks. I'm excited! I have Jesse looking at the update files to see what they constitute. I'll report back here when I have more info.
Even following those steps (which you seem to be doing right), that update has been a PITA for many to install. You aren't doing anything wrong. That update is huge and updates several module. Ford should have probably broken that update up into two parts to make it easier to install.
Well, I took it to the dealer Monday of this week. They just got back to me this morning and told me that they are concerned about doing the install manually. The service advisor said that they when they have done these updates on other trucks, sometimes it works but other times it ends up bricking the PCIM leaving the vehicle inoperable for 2-3 weeks until they can get a replacement PCIM. He tried telling me that it was a possibility and they recommended that I just keep the software at 2.7.4! I told him I didn't spend $70k on a modern truck to just have it sit with old software for fear that the update might not work right. I think he just didn't want to do the update and was attempting to dissuade me with fear. I told him I wanted the truck updated and if it bricked the PCIM, then we'd have a discussion about rental car, etc at that point until they replaced the PCIM.
One interesting point he mentioned which I wasn't aware of...he said that when they do the update, they just upload the most recent version - they don't have to do any building of prior versions. He said the reason the modules get bricked sometimes is because the software update they attempt to install may/may not be compatible with the actual vehicle and there's no way to tell until they try it. Serious???

I have to say, this all seems so ridiculous.
I'm assuming they meant the PCM? I agree they are coming up with stuff to dissuade you from persisting.
Let's say your APIM is three updates behind. The update that appears in the software they use to update modules would be the first of the three and not the latest. So if there is an APIM update showing and more pending, the only thing that happens when they update the APIM is that another APIM update shows up on the list. Many modules have to be updated sequentially. I'm some cases, one module has to be updated before a different module can be updated. When that is the case, the module that needs another module to be updated first will not appear on the list of modules that need updates until the other module gets updated and then the other module will show an update. The truth is, Ford made the software fairly easy to use.
So, I’ve spent what seems like hours reading this thread. It appears I’m in the same situation and could use some help, if possible, @rugedraw
I have never been able to receive an OTA update since owning the vehicle (2021). Brought it to the dealer a couple weeks ago and mentioned the issue, they reported “APIM update failed multiple times trying to update”. The dealer said he would look into it, but still nothing.
I’ve been in contact with the Ford Vehicle Technology team and they are following up with the dealer. Any help would be appreciated:

VIN1FTFW1ED5MFB57004
Sync 20301 (according to the online lookup)
Sync 20301 is software from 2020 known to be faulty and break the OTA process on early 2021 trucks. I don't even have to check your VIN to know your truck needs help. Reference TSB 22-2404 to your dealer. There is a fix for trucks in your situation.
If they tried that TSB and it didn't work, they need to order a new APIM for your truck and run a proper configuration and PMI (if needed) on it using FDRS to get your truck unstuck.
I really appreciate your insight, and I know many others in this forum do, too! In their defense, it's a shame that Ford doesn't give them something to update software in vehicles where there is clearly an issue with the OTA update.
I'll just hope they get it right and call in the next couple days telling me everything is ready to go!
@amac2021 They tried once to update your APIM. It failed and they gave up after that attempt. The TSB I referenced is what needs to be done to recover an APIM that won't update. My hunch was correct.

The dealer has all the tools and all the software they need to update trucks. The problem is the updates take hours to do and the dealer cannot bill Ford for the labor hours because Ford does not pay them to perform software updates. In the case of @amac2021 , his truck has a problem, and there is a bulletin out that the dealer can use to bill Ford for the work done under warranty. They won't update him all the way up.....they would recover the APIM and update it once just to get the truck unstuck, and he'd still be way behind on updates.......further than you are. Then, he'd have to wait for all the old updates to be randomly sent to him, which could take a year or longer, and he might get stuck on the same IPC update that your truck, my truck and many others got stuck on.
If they try to recover/update the APIM and that fails, then they order a new one and replace it. Even then, hope and pray that they do it right and don't break the OTA process again.
If I (and countless others) was able to update my truck in my driveway with no technical training, an inferior computer to the dealer's and an inferior VCI tool than the one the dealers have, then you better believe they can. If they had the inclination and incentive to do so.

You’ve been a huge help, appreciate your time. Thanks!
