Software Updates
Rugedraw, much thanks for your help!
I have been trying to figure out if I have received any S/W updates in the 6 months I have owned my F-150. It says it is connected to my home WIFI, and automatic updates are enabled, but I can't find anything that says what updates have been loaded and what they do.
Anyone have any help on where in the menus to check where this can be found?

What was your Build date? Most early 2021's like mine were caught up in a bad Firmware that prevented any updates until a dealer did the 22B08 Program update. I am this Thread Starter. I did not get any updates until this was done in July 2022 (14 months after buying the truck). Since then I have gotten most of the major updates. I am currently on 4.3.5., not completely up to date, but mostly on any new features. Everyone agrees this Ford upgrade process is very poor, but with help by folks like rudgedraw and others we have navigated through it (and I enjoy my truck more).

Hello and welcome.
Unfortunately, your truck is on Sync 20301 which is the old bad software known to break the OTA process. The last OTA your truck recorded was in June of 2021. TSB 22-2404 is the correct one to be applied to your case. However, I have seen very few instances where a dealer successfully performs that TSB; most likely due to the cables and time needed to do it. It is easier for them to just say the APIM does not update and order a new one to swap them out. Replacing the APIM will work to get the truck going with updates again (as long as the correctly program the new APIM to your truck), but they are on back-order, so you will mostly likely have to go pick up the truck and take it back when it comes in.
Your TCU seems to be fine as your truck can communicate with the Ford servers. It is very unlikely that the GWM needs to be replaced. This is specifically an APIM software problem. All Sync 4 vehicles will say the vehicle is "up to date" if there is no active OTA trigger in the system for that particular vehicle. To see what Sync version you're on, find the "About Sync" page in your touchscreen settings.

My APIM was replaced on October 31st, the truck now shows that automatic updates can be turned on and I can set scheduled updates.
The new APIM came with SYNC 21146_Product listed as the software version. November 1st my truck stated that it updated to Sync version 2.1, since then I haven’t seen any movement.
I have tried the sync crashing trick a couple of times, I make sure that I’m parked in wifi and have parking brake on etc etc.
Could you please check if there are any flags on the system? Does it show that I have a software update queued or do I need to action this differently to jumpstart the software updates? I see others are updating to Sync 6.1 and 6.2
Thank you again!

Understand that Ford's OTA process does not work like the update process on your phone works. Just because you have pending updates doesn't mean you will get them right away. You have to wait for them to be sent to your truck. As far behind as you are, it will be a loooooong time before you are up to date. You won't see any of the 6.x.x updates until you get the 2.x.x, 3.x.x, 4.x.x and some non-numbered priority updates. The good news is that your dealer did get your truck un-stuck and you will slowly get caught up.
