Mine was already configured with an "E" in that value. I never made that change, though, so it had to be there as-built.

This update stuff is Greek to me..My 2022 F150STX is prompting me to update but it tells me my truck will be disabled if I do it..Needless to say I keep closing that screen..What happens if I never update? Is there any update that would improve my backup camera and my headlights....They both suck..

Strange, my truck has an F there as default. The other thing you might try is in ACM here: 727-04-01 xxxx x0xx xx-- I haven't experimented with ANC at all so I'm just pointing out what I see in relevant modules.

Based on the timing of the OTA and the year of your truck, it will disable your truck for 10 minutes or 30 minutes depending on which of the two recent updates you have in queue. It is perfectly safe to do. Set your auto updates schedule to 2am or a time you don't usually need your truck and they will install while you sleep.

No, it won't improve your camera or headlights.

My automatic updates is "on". What will happen if I don't do anything else?

My truck was build in September 2022, and has 4.0.22082. How do the software updates work? It seems like there's no rhyme or reason as to why some people get some updates, and some others don't. Is there any way I can get that full screen carplay update? Do I need to go to the dealer, and will they install updates for free? Lots of questions here!

Then it will install whenever you have the updates scheduled to install.

There is no rhyme or reason as to how updates get sent out. Based on your Sync version, you are very far behind on updates. Ford does not pay dealers to update modules and this process takes hours upon hours (especially for you that are way behind). It will be cheaper for you to buy the tool needed to do it yourself than to go through the dealer. Some people have gotten dealers to do it, but that is very rare. Usually people get the run-around.

I don't think there is a schedule. I'm an old man and not saavy with all these electronics..I was just able to use Ford Pass on my phone to determine that auto updates was on but no schedule has ever been set.

Go into the touchscreen and click settings, software updates, and in the next screen, right under where you toggle auto updates on and on, there should be something you can click that says "schedule updates". I would have it set it up to check for updates every night at 3am or something along that line when the chances you are driving your truck are slim to none.
