I see they had issues updating some modules. They had to perform a few module repair procedures and USB updates. They are legit working on your truck, though.

Alright so I’m brand new here and have found this thread very helpful, more helpful then Ford customer care

i have a ‘21 lariat 502a
vin: 1FTFW1E56MFA20761

I have been stuck on 2.7.3 since June. It was updating. It was built in October of 20, received in January of 21, and had been regularly receiving updates until now.

I do have the active prep package, so I have been anxiously awaiting blue cruise. But I’ve lost my patience for this.

I do have auto updates enabled, and a schedule set. I see the “blue” vice “grey” slide icons which from what I understand means my APIM module is working?

I called Ford and they said there was no updates pending for the truck, which makes no sense, since I know there are newer versions out there.

they said there was a recall open for my truck to install blue cruise, but it’s now closed. Which doesn’t make any sense because I was never sent any info on a recall. I got an email that said if I didn’t want to wait for blue cruise, I could take it to a dealer to install. Which I should’ve just done that in May when the email came, but who wants to go to a dealership when I already paid good money for OTA updates…

I guess I’m just confused, is there something I’m doing wrong from preventing updates from occurring, or has ford not released any updates for my truck?

The last power up OTA you were sent was 2.7.3 on 9/25 and that successfully installed. You then had a PCM update sent to you on 10/11, but it expired on 10/25 because the update was never initiated. This particular update requires that the vehicle be inhibited while it installs, which means you have to manually start the update. The good news is, you are getting updates. Even though you are behind, your truck is not stuck. The campaign Ford had going on for dealer to update the trucks to get bluecruise expired already, so good luck getting a dealership to do ity now. You just have to wait it out or invest the time and money into getting the tool you need to do it yourself like myself and many others have had to do.

You have a 2022. Your truck was built with almost all the updates on it already. I see you got 3.5.2 on 9/17, so you are as up to date as you can be via OTA.

Although I agree that the program expired 10/31 as stated in my letter I had a dealership tell that is being extended until 4/2023. They're doing mine later this month. I'm nervous as heck about it because they're not providing a loaner vehicle. They said it should be done in 8 hours.

Your problem seems to be that the OTA gods don't like you. Because your truck is not stuck on an old Sync version and you are getting some OTAs, the dealers should not have an issue updating your truck. Once Jesse got me past the 2.7.3 update that my truck was stuck in, I did the rest of the updates myself and I had zero experience with FDRS. It was time consuming, but easy. Since your truck is not broken, I don't see why an experienced Ford tech would have an issue with your truck.

If you decide to do it yourself, the license you need is only $50. It is the Mongoose ODBII tool that will set you back $550 unless you can find one used on eBay or here in the forums.
Going along with rugedraws thoughts, I took my truck into the dealer to get the Blue Cruise software installed. They had a little trouble getting the ipma to update the first day, but were able to get everything in on the second day. According to the paperwork, they updated the ipma, ccm, and gwm. They took the truck on a test drive and could get the Blue Cruise to initiate, but then it would turn off "due to low lane line visibility due to snow on the freeway".
I was able to test Blue Cruise out the next day and it worked great.

I also now have cameras at speed which I got OTA the day after I brought the truck home, so I know that the OTA process is still working.

I had told the service writer up front that I wasn't going to pay for any of the updates, and that he should call me before he got into anything that they thought they should charge me for. I'm pleased to report that there was no charge for any of the work that they did, so it appears that they are still honoring the Blue Cruise Hands-Free Software Update even though it supposedly expired at the end of September.

In addition, they performed the standard 99 point inspection, checked brakes, adjusted tire pressure, washer fluid etc. also N/C.

I'm feeling lucky that I got through this experience without any major ordeals.

Here’s my experience with update 3.5.3. On Oct 19th I got the update 3.5.3 OTA, it said successfully, everything seemed to work great. Online and the app said I would be able to activate Alexa in a couple days, I waited a couple weeks and still no Alexa. I called the OTA customer service and they said that they were having problems with this update and to give it two more weeks. Couple weeks go by and still no Alexa, I called the OTA customer service again and they said that they had so many problems with 3.5.3 that they stopped the OTA for now while they try and workout all the bugs. They told me I could take it to a dealer and have them try to reinstall it, so I did, dealer said it failed the first time, the second time it installed successfully. A week goes by still no Alexa. At this point I decided to hook up FORscan to see if I could find anything, I did, in the apim Amazon Alexa was still disabled, I enabled it and within 5 hours I got an email and a notice in the Ford Pass app saying Alexa was ready, I went out to the truck and there it was, it works as it should now!
