I just got the 3.5.2 yesterday.

Frankly, Ford, I don't care for Alexa. Please make sure users can disable it. We already have Siri if you have an iphone.

well I decided to take it to another dealership. After 8 days of my truck sitting they finally got to it today. I’m not sure exactly what all is gonna be done but the service tech texted me today and said basically “ there’s lots of updates that need to be done and it’s gonna take more then one day to uploaded everything”. This is amazing!! Told him to take their time and get the updates and 22B08 done lol.
I’m curious if anyone can look up my vin# and see what all they did today? It’s still in the shop for this but jw what all was done today so far.

I can see where numerous modules have been updated today. BCM, GSM, IPMA, ABS, SCCM, TRM, IPC, DDM, PDM, and DSP were reprogrammed and all were completed successfully.

They attempted to reprogram APIM and I can see they had some issues there. They may try it again tomorrow

Thank you! Would I be correct to assume that this is good news for getting software update? I believe that the APIM seems to be the big hiccup in getting the updates following again?

Absolutely none of that is relevant as to why Ford won't give you a license to use software that is designed to be used by Ford trained and certified technicians.

All it would take is one yahoo using FDRS to change his vehicle himself, reprogram a module, get in a wreck and die. Then Ford gets sued for the bone headed move of allowing and enabling untrained people to modify thousands of values or reprogram modules themselves using thier software and a tool they bought from Amazon.

You're quite the optimist. For every one of us on these forums who can comprehend using FDRS at a level *we* believe to be competent, there are 10,000 idiots who aren't and who would risk screwing things up.

I'm not an expert in FDRS by any means, but I'm almost positive that you can't change any As-Built data in FDRS unless it is a routine setup for your vehicle to reconfigure something. It's also no different than what dealers are doing, so what happens when someone gets into an accident after a dealer update screw up? History logs show the "trained" technicians are just as capable of causing problems, possibly even more likely to do so. It's also entire possible to do now even though there's a cost to entry.

Yeah I'm aware on all that... My question still stands.

Anyone with $50 and a laptop with internet connection can get the license and potentially mess their truck up. I didn't read the disclaimer when I downloaded it to see if there is some fine print that says "use at your own risk", but if there is (and I'm sure there is), the disclaimer is applicable whether I pay the $50 for the 2 day license or not. You don't need a Ford employee number or an ASE certification to get the license, so why would them giving it to me for free (due to their own shortcomings) put them at any more legal risk than they would be if I pay them to get it? I'm sorry, but your logic is flawed. By your standards, it should not be made readily and easily accessible to the public at all. Yet, there it is for you and me and anyone else that wants it.

Perhaps I am not understanding your question? You asked if the HMI in the APIM is enabled or disabled to those that have it running. I can confirm that no one who recently updated had to enable it in FORscan to make it operational. If is says activation pending, most people have reported 24 hours before it kicks off and appears in Fordpass after you update.
