I just dropped off my truck at a different dealer for the Bluecruise updates. Pray for me.

Just an update for anyone following this nightmare. Spoke to another dealer today and was told that Ford has now pulled the APIM service bulletin for truck that are not updating because there’s cases like mine, that after reprogramming the APIM 2.8.1 can fry part of the APIM. A new APIM is a minimum of 6 weeks out. As I said, this is just what one particular dealer told me so take it with a grain of salt but needless to say I’m not pleased.

In my unprofessional opinion, that sounds like BS. The update that was frying a module was the BCM module; not the APIM, and from following a thread on that on another forum, they seem to have fixed the issue within the update that was causing problems.

it very well could be BS. All I know is that my truck updated to 2.8.1 last week and after I did I no longer have cruise, adaptive or normal, no lane keep or lane centering, and the truck has a collision fault. And I’ve talked to another member with the exact same issue after 2.8.1 and having his APIM reprogrammed.

Waiting for your update since we seem to have the exact same problem. No BC on mine but stuck at the same point in OTA's.

I have no faith any time Ford tech says a new APIM is needed. First dealer told me they talked to Ford after failing to correct the grayed out OTA button in 13 days. Second dealer fixed it in a couple hours without a new APIM.

It shows they did some module programming and updated the PCM. That's it so far. My truck was there 5-6 hours before they even took it in and started doing anything, but at least they did something, so they are already ahead of the other store. I'll post up my results when theyre' done.

AFAIK, nothing is “frying” the BCM. The update left it in an inoperable state due to a software issue. Jesse was able to reload a working set of software on a couple of them and bring them back to life. Mine was one of them. There was no damage to the BCM from what I can tell. My truck is fully functional now.

Yea, I guess "frying" is not the right word to use. I was following the issue on the other forum when the problem first arose. Jesse is a flippin' life saver. lol
