Software Updates
Once again I'll ask if anybody else had their dealer tell them that Ford intentionally turned off their updates for the better part of a year until they can come up with a fix and that there is no ETA on the fix? Or am I the only one that has been told this?
Nope, I was told nothing. My dealer did not even have a clue until I advised them of the service bulletins.

2021 F150 Screw Lariat 501a here. I have been into service a couple of times due to, as best as I can describe, glitches in the IPC. My last visit was for almost 3 weeks. Service said they updated quite a few modules, but were unable to get the IPC to cooperate. They have had a call into Ford software or whatever they called it for almost 2 months now even though I have been told the turn around time for an answer is 48 hours. The truck is completely drivable, mechanically, but electronically, it is causing me to pull my hair out. Constant inconsistencies in both the front driver screen and middle infotainment screen is making me 2nd guess my purchase.
Off the top of my head:
One other problem that has persisted since I bought the truck is a trailer light fault. It doesn't matter if I have a 4 prong or 6 prong trailer attached, the results are the same when I try to use my right blinker - it just freaks out like the rear light is broken. I can verify this because currently my rear driver side light is actually busted and the blinker freaks out when I use it (yes I have an appt to get it fixed). When I have no trailer attached, the right blinker works just fine. The most interesting thing about this though is the light works on the trailer just fine! I have brought this problem up multiple times and each time it is either overlooked or they don't find anything wrong. I have videos of this happening, too.

Off the top of my head:
- 3-4 times a week I will start up the truck in the morning and every setting has been reset to default
- At least 2-3 times a week I get Drive Mode unavailable (see picture)
- On more than 3 occasions, I've had no speedo! (see video)
- The light/dark mode when set to auto does not work - I have to manually switch it
- Sometimes the infotainment screen just blanks out for a period of time
- Seatbelt detection doesn't seem to work. No warning lights or sounds if someone unbuckles when the truck is in motion, going down the highway, at 70mph. Tested on multiple occasions
- Forward collision system doesn't work on any sensitivity setting. Oh, I've tested this on multiple occasions and nearly shat a brick each time

I dropped my truck off Tuesday night for a Wednesday appointment at my dealer for the 21G01 software update. I got a call Wednesday afternoon that it was going really slow and they would need to keep it an extra day. Thursday afternoon I got a call saying they ran into some problems and they were waiting on Ford engineers to get back to them and it was going to take at least anther day and they could not give me the truck back but if they couldn't finish it by Friday they would figure out a loaner for me. Got a call about 2 hours ago that Ford had fixed something on their end and everything was moving forward and my truck should be ready this afternoon. About 10 min ago I got the notice from Fordpass that "Hands-Free driving is now available"!!! Hopefully they don't run into any more issues finishing it up and I can get it back in a couple of hours.
Make sure that they test drive it on a BC highway. That's part of 21G01.

Looking for some guidance on how to proceed from here. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated...
I'll try to be as brief as possible since I've already posted in detail about my saga with this truck. My Job 1 (12/20) 2021 XLT 302AHigh 4x4 SCrew Sport is running Sync version 20262 r229. To my knowledge, I've never received any updates since its purchase in Feb 2021. In the time since, I was TOLD my APIM was replaced (I can't verify this with any of my service invoices, but was told by dealer it was replaced), "flashed", and re-programmed. I've also had the TCU replaced, which resulted in the loss of all modem connectivity, including fordpass, and most recently had the gateway module replaced. Following the GWM install, I dropped the truck off at the dealer Monday morning to have it programmed and any pending updates installed. They had it for four days, claiming to have had to replace yet another unspecified "module" (also not indicated on the invoice), and notified me yesterday afternoon that it would be ready for me to pick up.
When I got in the truck (after service hours), I was infuriated to see that I am STILL running the same Sync version 20262 r229!!! That being said, I did note the following progress:
What I did NOT see, however, was the installation of any system updates by the dealer, and it appears that several of the sync issues that have plagued me since day one (like cluster nav malfunctioning/blank info cards/etc) are still glaringly present. Installing updates was explicitly requested and agreed upon by the service manager - prior to and at drop-off. I also asked him to confirm updates were installed when he called me to say it was ready and he assured me "yeah - it's all set". Based on my previous experience, I'm all but certain it will need to go back to service. Unless I miraculously start seeing OTA's over the weekend, I have zero intention of entertaining the "give it another week or two and see" suggestions I've been fed for the last 15+ months!
What I'm asking for here is any guidance or suggestions on the best or most effective way to approach this with the dealership. As of 6pm last night (after I picked up the truck) 1.7.1 is showing a status of "canceled" in my fordpass widget data. I called the OTA support team earlier today, who also confirmed they were seeing the same information. They opened yet another case ID, but before I go storming back to my dealer I want to make sure I'm not saying or requesting anything that will prolong this headache any more than it has to...
Have a good weekend everyone!

- I was finally able to authenticate the vehicle with my FordPass app and it appears to be working properly
- In the 3 trips I've taken since picking it up last night, I've not experienced the MyView reset (although I'm definitely giving this one a few more days before considering it resolved)

- Is it unreasonable or unprecedented to make such a request? I'd like to think that, after a year and a half of failure, requesting a manual installation of updates isn't a crazy thing to ask (especially since they SAID they were doing it several times previously), but I want to be prepared for any BS that I might encounter.
- Is there any specific code or "insider language" I should be using to more clearly express what I want? Any specific SAs or TSBs that would clearly dictate a manual system update?
- How can I determine what updates exist that are applicable to my specific vehicle? I have found notes on at least 20 updates that have been released... obviously, I know not ALL of them will apply to my truck, but given that I don't really have any confidence in what I'm being told by the service manager, I'd like to be prepared for a scenario in which they simply find some low-hanging fruit to install without really ensuring my system is current. Thus far, they've been the human equivalent of the "Your system is up to date" that's been displayed on my sync screen since last February.
- Are there any updates that REQUIRE dealer installation? I seem to recall a big one a few months back (possibly 1.7.1 but I'm not certain) that many suggested was too large to be sent OTA, but again; I'm anticipating pushback and double-talk, so I want to be sure.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Picking mine up after 4th week in the shop with no resolution. They have 4 others here now doing the same thing, so not an isolated thing as we all know…. Taking it home and regrouping on go forward plan.
So I should be angrier that I had a three week saga to get the truck updates to work? Would that soothe your *****? It got fixed, just like I knew it would. And yes.....my truck not updating itself is still the most first world problem I have ever had with a vehicle. Sorry if that causes pain in your sphincter.
If you are dealing with your service dept with the same attitude you are giving me, maybe the buyback is just to get rid of you. I bet they have your truck sold in under a week....Blue Cruise or not.
