His threads are like seeing a tragic accident.... you know you're going to wish you didn't look, but you do anyway.

That can be an issue with ANY vehicle, new or used- if you really want to LEARN auto mechanics there is no better way than having s problem child, however its NOT an easy education, AND, you must be willing to listen to the voice of experience- dad, uncle, trusted friend, etc.,
Most of us old farts learned the hard way when there was only ONE way to figure it out/fix it without spending your life savings... that was to remove, repair and replace each part on each issue until you truly fixed it- there was NO forums, facebook or you tube to turn to.
There is no greater motivator than to know you need your vehicle to get to work the next day.- and you have no money to buy new parts...then you become a mechanic and NOT a parts replacer.
If you dont want to heed advice that is freely given, then you will be in a position to go it alone and learn the old ways -or realize you are not cut out to be a mechanic and will be better spending your time to get a different education to afford to take your vehicle to a mechanic.

Well said Bear. It's process lol.

There's short cuts to it today. If you fight that, it's and even longer process.

Welp picked up the camper shell... in the pouring rain. Luckily there was a marathon close by so we used their cover. Will get pics when the rain lets up. Quick question for those who are familiar with camper shells; can I buy a replacement lip that goes from the camper shell back glass and covers the tailgate? Mine is cracked. Would like to replace it if it's cheap and easy enough. Otherwise I'll get over it. I can't complain for $60 lol

Man, not going to get a chance to work on the body this year....looks like. Shiii keeps breaking on the old 98 lol. Going to have to get it mechanically straight. Exhaust needs replacing, just about all of it. Then a rear end rebuild. Time consuming crap, well, if I do it myself. To me, the body isn't worth doing unless everything else is up to par on that thing. Amazingly, she looked pretty good all cleaned up yesterday. First total wash since last fall lol. Yea , does a lot of sitting...neglect. Always runs great tho. Engine /trans are solid.

Are you referring to the flexible rubber piece that closes against the top of the 'gate? If so, I've seen someone use a regular old door sweep LIKE THIS, but that was on a window that had an aluminum frame.
