Good morning, Bear and all! - 7° as I write this on its way to a balmy 9° for a high, the weatherman says. I've been burning propane in the garage the last few evenings just to keep things from freezing, but will need to keep an eye on things during the day now, too, it seems. Glad to be on the right side of the grass regardless!

Finally used the truck as a truck again this weekend, hauling building supplies for a laundry-room remodel. The missus is getting a craft area, so I'm building a closet and adding storage shelves along with installing a larger sink and cabinet.

Have a good week, everyone!

And here I was all depressed that I needed to wear more than a flannel shirt to keep warm in my garage when I did the 260K mile LOF yesterday. It was down to like 48°F in there without the heat. Yeah, A flannel and a light jacket.
Does your garage have a ceiling? Insulation?

I just had my garage expanded, it has drywall, but no insulation- i hung a cheap electric heater in the middle, by the west wall- i turn it on if im going to be i the garage. It will bring it up to 60- but thats better than 30!!

Fully finished with R13 in the walls and ceiling. Below are a couple of pics that were taken shortly after I finished the job. (It's not nearly thst neat and tidy now, unfortunately.) Since then, I've added foil-backed Styrofoam on the garage door. My twin-top propane heater can get the temp up to 60 or so without much problem, even with temps in the teens.

I love my little Cayenne Furnace. I can't really run it while I am filming though.... wish I could find a way around that. The damn mic pics it up LOUD and clear.

Nice setup. The jelly jar and 4' fixtures must have a story.
I did Sheetrock ceiling, with the constant moisture changes I get cracks at the joints. I see a solution in your pics.
Even on the coldest days my garage stays above 45F
An air conditioner for summer would get more use than a heater.

I really should invest in a proper heater for the garage. I'd need a separate outdoor propane tank, though, because running gas from the house would be an expen$ive proposition.

No story on the lights. The incandescents are there basically for quick trips in and out, and the fixtures are just what I thought would provide a little protection against the occasional errant strike. The flourescents provide daylight+ lighting for projects, etc., and are on six switches in banks of two so I can light only the ones that are needed at the time.

I didn't want to mess with drywall finishing and the associated mess as well as the potential for damage and getting dirty. , The metal wainscoting coupled with the OSB gives me almost damage-proof walls. Bonus: Anywhere I want to hang something, I just drive a screw, and if I change my mind there's no patching to do. The ceiling isn't as airtight as I'd like it to be, and if I'd been going to heat it 24/7 (or even regularly), I would have taken measures to seal it better. "Good enough" was good enough this time, though.

The insulation works both ways, fortunately. Summertime isn't very severe here at all (90° is a rarity here at almost 9000') and the air is dry, so the nighttime cool-off is usually adequate to keep it tolerable during all but the warmest weather.
