White: I did the upgrade on a ThinkPad T460 a couple months back, and if the power supply I picked up yesterday for my old Dell desktop is good, I'll be attempting it on that one as well. There have been a flurry of articles on the subject lately with Win7's cutoff this month. I have a T420 here, too, that may warrant an attempt.

January 14th was the cutoff. My file server at home squabbled at me last night about it.

I think that is too old though.... maybe I can make it work though. It's so old it has DDR2 RAM. But it's a workhorse.

I installed the "new" PSU in the Dell over lunchtime, and...

I'll do a fresh Win7 install and attempt to upgrade to 10 over the weekend. Should make for a decent garage machine if it works.
(Definitely better then the T62 I have out there now.)

That is true of the factory upper. If you put Moog Problem Solver UCA's in it though, they are serviceable and replaceable.

The lowers... always been replaceable as just the ball joint, but the factory LBJ did not have a zerk. You can use a needle style fitting on your grease gun to inject them though.

Yeah, it's the lower that made me go .
I know they're replaceable. I've done it. And I'll be doing it again, as I used factory-sized ones when I did them last year, and the passenger-side practically dropped in place. I have an oversized Moog one I still need swap in (thanks, JP).

There's a lot of this kind of information in the shop manuals. I always took it to be more about convenience for the mechanic and maybe a consideration to labor time and cost for the customer. The manuals don't bother going in to what can be done a lot of the time, they just go with "Do this and be done with it."

Thought some of you might be interested in this. A flyer from the local community college came for what they call, The Lifelong Learning Center. One of their new offerings is the ability to get an FAA license for Drone Pilot. This drone use is becoming a common tool for a lot of different businesses.

Jp, forestry is one of the uses. Apparently by scanning forests with certain lenses they can count the number of species and the number of them along with estimating the age and size of the trees along with the health of the trees. Cruising may be getting redefined. Have you seen any of this going on?

A friend of a friend has a license. He gets A LOT of really great photos. He constantly, I would bet weekly, has a photo he has taken shown on the news.

There have become too many ding dongs flying them around here. The fire we had last year by me caused the news to make an announcement to keep your drones out of the area.
