Ohio, you are very welcome!

River, I actually have a pretty nice one in my truck right now I use it to check out reforested tracts to determine survival rates. It was only a matter of time until they could figure how to check stand composition I suppose. With an infrared camera you can see that conifers put off a measurable amount more heat than deciduous trees. That would definitely be useful.

There have become too many ding dongs flying them around here. The fire we had last year by me caused the news to make an announcement to keep your drones out of the area.
The flyer lists some of the uses that go way beyond what I suspect most consider they are used for, surveillance\security. With different systems on board like LIDAR along with the different lenses the uses are almost anything someone can come up with. Some of the more surprising uses are, monitoring road and bridge conditions for repairs, wild life populations, soil conditions\monitoring ground water\crop selection, pollution, avalanche and landslide control, etc. Almost anything but the biggest benefit seems to be how fast and the expanse of data that can be collected over existing methods. Right now drone pilot it's said is a pretty good paying job. That will probably change as more and more people get licensed and the class of a pilots license. This program covers the basic license for a quad drone but also prepares students for a license covering larger, single engine drones with the needed class time but not the needed hours of flight time. It's a two part course costing $1,485 per course. Not too bad for lucrative job training.

Jp, So you have a drone in your truck right now! I should have known.

White, Why is it people do this kind of stuff? Common sense is a dying trait it seems.

@Jbrew

Looks like we have an ice and snow spanking coming tonight. You ready or are you in that Flint area that for some reason is going to be immune to most of this? We're forecasted with 8" and 3\4 to 1" of ice. A lot a branches will be coming down if that happens. lol

On the way home I was sitting at a light, and all the sudden my truck made a "miss" sound, then it quickly went away.... about 5 minutes after getting on I-80, it started to miss/hesitate as I accelerated in OD. Long story short, CEL came on, and it had a cylinder 7 misfire. Last time it was a cylinder 3 misfire.... about 10,000 miles ago (but also 3 years). Both times I have removed the wire to find it has had water intrusion, the dielectric grease is started to harden, and then rust on the connector.

So... my thinking is that my cowl seal is leaking and allowing the water in. For the life of me, I can't find a 97-03.... any of y have a P/N by chance?

River, I am still in the learning stages here but it seemed like a good technology to keep up with. I have the DJI Phantom 4 Pro at the moment and honestly the hardest part was configuring the app.

Don't have the part number but LMC Truck had the cowl seal if you're referring to the cowl at the windshield\wipers?

App? Do you fly it from your phone? I don't know much about drones beyond what's on the news which covers military uses to Amazon's desire to use drones for package delivery. There's also been some news about developing laws to control their use. They are cool though. Looked up your drone and that's quite a piece of gear. A lot more than a hobby toy. How far is the video good for and how far is the control distance good for? Didn't see either in the description or specs.

It had to be #7. Guess it could of been worse. 3M dielectric is non solidifying, might want to use some on the seal. That stuff is pricey, but worth the expense.

You shouldn't need a new seal unless it has a massive crease in it.

Flint, disgusting. No,close to Lansing. Peoples pets can't even drink the water in Flint. That place reminds me of Chernobyl or how it use to be

Saying 4-8" of the white stuff by Sunday. The temps are diving down to the single digits, fun! Have to break out the camo heat packs lol.
