Discovered I like Rainbow dark chips tonight, not sure which neighbor is responsible for that. Perhaps I won't zitched at so much for bugles in the couch anymore.
Iroc ? Why did they ask you that lol ? Purchased one of those way back when, right out of the show room (impulse buy) think it a was a 90, the last year they made them. The Mustangs ( 5 0's ) always beat me, unless they missed a gear. The car was stolen from the driveway. The back half was recovered somewhere in Detroit, actually I recall the cross roads Mich Ave and Mark Twain, about 80 miles from the house. Yep, cut in half behind the front seats. A bummer, think it had 6800 miles on it, had it almost 2 years. Still a mystery how the managed top start it, the keys were chipped, they got past that somehow.
Iroc because that's one of the stereotypical rides that the rockers drove..... around here, anyway. The Nova was as well.
By cut in half, do you mean it was in an accident, or someone literally cut it in half, like a chop shop thing?
It was chopped, cut in half. Can't remember, either the insurance company or Police department sent me some crappy pics of what they recovered. The back-end of the car, full of misc parts crammed in the trunk and back seat. They made a positive identification though...somehow.
Racing was a big thing for awhile, we closed a section of road down, race a few, move to another spot, same thing lol. There got to be so many people, it was broke up pretty quick. Police channel was monitored, when the air horn blew we scattered lol.
Yep, same thing was going on here. Find a stretch of road to meet up on Friday and Saturday nights..... then relocate when the cops found out where it was. After a few years of that, the local drag strip started midnight drags..... you could go run on a timed track, legally, and with a medical staff there if needed. You could go all you wanted for 10 bucks per night. Welp.... that track just closed for good at the end of September, sooooo.... Word on the street is, Utah Motorsports is building a track now that RMR closed, but I have not been able to get UMC to confirm the rumors I have heard.
This was our spot for the longest time. Nice, new stretch of road, close to I-80 (quick getaway if the cops show up)....
LOL, I can recall two, Beck road between 10 and 11 mile and Hillstech Drive behind Home Depot. Sort of screwed at a Beck road race. There was at least 100 cars spectating lined up on the shoulder, to watch a rusty Farm truck race against a trailered in Dodge Dart. They raced twice, the Dart lost traction at the start both races. The farm truck was a short bed 70's Chevy sleeper, built engine. Sounded like a Top fuel dragster. I recall the Dart owner yelling over at us, - so you going to race me with that 200 dollar truck ?
Farm truck owner, - if this 200 truck dollar beets yuh, what's that make your car worth lol. That's what they raced for, a 200 dollar purse, but yea, the dart couldn't get traction out of the gate and the farm truck ran away with it both times.
Anyway, the horn went off and it was a cluster, couldn't move. The Iroc was one of the first to get pulled over, it was magnet for getting pulled over at such an event, the Dart no sooner got the ramps up on the trailer, got traffic to let him in, cops got him as well. I was just questioned an let go, not sure what happened to the Dart owner. The Farm truck was long gone, met back up at home base in our little town lol.
We could race at Hillstech Drive for quite awhile before the horn. The Iroc did well against the loud mouth TA owners, the Stang's were a good race, but they usually beat that car. Raced a Grand National and got slaughtered lol. We kept it safe, making sure no one was in harms way with spotters and temporary closures. We figured the thief must of followed me home from Hillstech, since we didn't have much crime in the area.
I have some Glossy's of the Iroc, made a picture collage at one point, failing to locate at the moment. Thought I had it archived on Googles Picaso, an old host, but nope. Maybe I'll dig them up later. The Iroc was a nice looking car, white w/red interior. Never liked red interiors, but it looked good in that car.
There was a little GMC Syclone and a GMC Typhoon that came down there and chewed the **** out of unsuspecting customers.
My Buddy had an 88 LX and for some damn reason, that thing just had something extra to it.... bastard would stay right with those, and all we did was put headers and a Comp Cams Composite upper intake on it. It was a speed density car (last year the 5.0 had SD) and it just RAN. Always pissed me off that thing had a little more kick than mine, lol. So naturally, I fixed that problem.
