^^ 100% correct. Dealerships don't have to update "their" FDRS to be able to perform software updates, per se. FDRS will check and pull down whatever is available (in the "cloud").

They are flat out lying to you. Or they are idiots.

I could not wait. Failed Sync update back in DEC locked up my Automatic updates.

Today's update: Ford is shipping them another (new) APIM module that is a different part number than what's available to be ordered via the normal route. Should be here tomorrow. And the Engineer will literally be waiting for my service manager to call him IF it doesn't accept the SW programming. We shall see about that ...

I would advise to plan for two days anyway because you want the second day to check after it sits overnight and updates itself and FDRS updates.
Hope this is helpful.
You may have answered this but how did you know the order of precedence for the updates?
For example do you perform the Gateway Module A update first before PCM or ABS?

You may get your update button back but it/they will not update all your modules... not to burst your bubble but replacing the Apim is a waste of time.

Wink Mr Livnitup: Please run my VIN again.

1FTFW1E83MFA71094

After one week at the dealer's, the service advisor claims that six of the eight modules have been updated. They claim to be stuck updating the last two and they are waiting for Ford engineers to tell them what they need to do next.
Can you verify what they are saying and post the printout like you did before? I want to know how truthful they are being. Thank you in advance. I will forever be in your debt good sir.
