And regardless of whether my first step should be replacement of the TCU, the rest of the question is, what additional steps--regarding software and/or hardware--are required merely to get OTA updates coming again? To emphasize once more, moving forward with 21G01, per se, is not a priority of mine until that process is better defined/refined.
I really mis-stated that it was the FIRST step. That was the first trouble email I received from my SA. Stating that on the first day of working on it, Ford told them that they needed to replace the TCU to continue with 21G01. It was going to take a few days to get it and continue updating 21G01. Another 3.5 days later I was Blue Cruising. I have not received an OTA since Feb. 28(failed trying to go to 2.3.1), even after getting up to date on this thing. Sorry I don't have more information for you.

For the time being, I want a standalone fix of the OTA process. Safe to say that I should ask that the dealer first apply any available update(s) to the GWM, then to the APIM? Or is there a single update that is a comprehensive fix of the OTA's? Or what? Anyone? Thanks!

... On the announcement document for the 21G01 program, the first referenced TSB at the top is 22-2117 - "Unable to Update the APIM Or TCU with USB - Module Recovery". Is that a comprehensive remedy of the OTA blockage--period, end of story?
If you're stuck at 1.7.1 and your update screen is greyed out, you pretty much need to do the TSB. It can be done at the dealer or you can do it yourself, but that's it. You can try to update it with FDRS, but it likely will get stuck. Many did get lucky and got their trucks unstuck & updated with FDRS before the TSB procedure came out, but it required driving around waiting for the APIM USB update to kick off on its own. Most drove around for 4-6 weeks waiting for it to go. However, once you do get past the stuck update, you'll be good to go.

That shoots someone's theory/belief that at least PowerUp 2.5.x is necessary for BC functionality.

Dropped my truck off this morning for the trailer brake controller recall and 21G01, fingers crossed. Last successful OTA update was February 12th to 2.3.0

I had an appt at my local dealer yesterday to do the recalls and hopefully BC update. I called them a week in advance and gave them the FSA's I wanted to get done when I made the appt. I get there and they tell me they can't do the loose undercarriage recall because they don't have the part and it needs to be ordered. I immediately ask my service advisor to get me his manager. I calmly explain to him that I took the day off of work to get this done because I was told due to the shortage of cars, they do not have any loaner vehicles, and now I am told I have to come back in a week. When I asked why weren't these parts ordered when I made the appt and provided them with the FSA's I was going there to resolve, he could not provide me with an answer. I told him I cannot take another day off of work to cater to their inefficiencies, so they agreed to pay for a rental vehicle for me while my truck is being serviced.

They may regret agreeing to pay for that rental if my truck is stuck there for weeks doing the update like what has happened to some of you guys. lol

Yes, it is hard to understand now what the requirements are. OTA 2.3.1 (Sync 21281.244) does not seem to have the connection to the BC maps and has no display of the expiration date of those maps. It is my understanding that 21G01 and 22P08, if ALL updates are presented via FDRS based on VIN, it will provide APIM and other module updates to effictively bring the system to OTA 2.5.x (22034.364) level and fully enable BC. I may be wrong on this but hard to know without clear understanding of Sync versions everyone had before and after 21G01 updates.

I just hope they get this all figured out as I am at OTA 2.3.1 yet it still will not allow FDRS to bring my system up-to-date for BC functionality.

Well, 21G01 includes provision for a rental for the day it is supposed to take. Where it gets dicey is definitely where the update goes sideways and it turns into a multi-day/week process...

Good luck with the update. I hope yours goes well.

Not really, when software is upgraded through FDRS for the 21G01 Bluecruise, it brings the software up to the level that the PowerUp 2.5.2 or 2.5.3 OTA is. PowerUp level is OTA only so my own truck never got PowerUp 2.5.x but I upgraded software through FDRS and have Bluecruise. However, someone who never brought their truck to the dealer or updated software themselves AND got the PowerUp 2.5.x OTA could have Bluecruise if they had the prep pack installed on the truck. Hope this makes sense.

In the context of the current hellscape at dealerships relative to 21G01, sure seems as though, for many owners, the mere hope of getting BC somewhat sooner is like crack to a street addict. For the time being, everything considered, I'd be fine with getting OTA updates again.

There, I feel better. Had to apply "hellscape" and "street addict" to the "whole situation".

My dealer took 9 days to complete this update and recall. I had the loaner the whole time. They never batted an eye about how long I had their truck.
