A pretty important step in this process. LOL.

Reminds me of an idiot I worked for about 25 years ago.

I worked for Chrysler (then Daimler Chrysler) in the IT group doing application development technical support. We mentored software developers when they had issues and we provided advice and support when they were considering developing or purchasing software applications for the company. Anyway, I was in this meeting with a group of developers that was investigating the implementation of a Java-based application. The vendor stated that the updates to the application and the underlying Java runtime library could be automated so that, when employees were home at night, the updates would occur then and not interrupt their work during the day.

My boss (Mr. Master's Degree from a prominent university) raises his hand and asks, "Does the computer have to be powered ON in order for the software to be updated?" What a complete and utter moron.

I was in a drive thru fast food restaurant and when I got to the window I saw the drink machine inside had a sticker on it that said "For Cold Drink Add Ice" and just SMH at that.

@Livnitup Any chance to get you to check the OTA data on my vehicle again...? I just got back from getting the 21G01 update that they said finally worked. Only issue is no Blue Cruise. Told me they test drove it and it worked great... I noticed that there was only 0.4 of a mile on odometer, so impossible that they did. Just wondering what they really did...

VIN is 1FTFW1ED8MFB71088. If you have time. No worries if not. Thanks!!

Dumb question. Do you just disconnect the negative on the battery for the Powerboost hybrid? Is there more to it for the hybrid?

I heard others here say that the Powerboost has another battery under the rear seat that also has to be disconnected.... I have no idea if this is accurate, but thought I would point that out. I just saw it over the weekend.

I did this, but let the truck fully de-energize for 15 minutes as it holds energy for a while after the battery is disconnected and doesn't shut down the modules. Once I waited this time, all power from the truck was off.

There is, but its not to power the computer modules so it doesn't need to be disconnected.

I see several modules on your truck that can be updated including CMR/CCM/IPC that I thought were all necessary for Bluecruise to work. The only modules I see that they updated were the TRM (April 8th) & GWM (April 8th & 9th) unless whatever they did today hasn't updated into what I'm seeing.

Thanks you sir. I am gonna take it back tomorrow and drive it up someone's rear end... The technician outright lied as I specifically asked if the test drive was complete and was told it was and worked great. Problem is they only put 0.4-0.5 additional miles on the odometer when I picked it up, and the on-ramp to get to the Blue Cruise enabled road is 0.5 miles away. There should have been at a minimum of 2-3 miles put on it. Needless to say, I entered the same highway on-ramp they should have used and viola, no Blue Cruise... Just the standard hands-free adaptive cruise.

I am so ticked off I could spit right now... To all the others that are having these similar issues, please welcome me to the club. And I know others have had it even worse...

The sad part is that it was supposed to take up to 12 hours to apply the patches and I would have had the truck back Friday afternoon inclusive of the 2 recalls (insulation and trailer brake controller) and an oil change. They ran into issues with the BC update and worked on it Friday, Saturday and again today after calling the Ford Hotline for assistance. They were having issues updating the gateway. I was VERY understanding with them and was thanking them for their diligence and efforts. I realize they only have the update process as provided by Ford. Plus I am not the kind of person that starts with the yelling and screaming when something goes wrong. Stuff happens. I raised no stink when it had to stay and got no rental car (they are 134 cars behind for people wanting a rental for service). But when I directly asked about the test drive (twice) and told it was completed, and knowing they get an additional 30 minutes of tech compensation to do the test drive, I am now fuming.

And after all of this, my original issue of the adaptive cruise control not staying turned on between key cycles is still there. I cannot tell that they did anything. Oh, also my speedometer on the right side not longer displays the larger gauge. It is the one with 0 and 120 as the only markings like when nav is active and it is showing turn-by-turn in the center section.

So back we go tomorrow....

Thanks again @Livnitup . I really appreciate your help on this. I will be back to SoCal (near SNA) next week. If you are in the area and I can buy you and the family dinner, I would love to return the favor as a small token of appreciation for all you do for everyone here.

One more weird thing I just noticed. The IR lights used for BC eye detection in the driver door front pillar now comes on all the time while the truck is running. BC does not work, but the light is on. I noticed the red glow when I went out to test things to get the status. It stayed on for 3 minutes after the truck powered off and was locked. This is the first time I have ever seen any activity with this IR light. I assume for those who have BC working you see the same thing...? Per livnitup the only modules that were updated during my failed 21G01 process was one for the Gateway and the one for the trailer brake controller, so I guess this light must be controlled by one of those...? Seems kinda strange to me.
