So if CP stops working check your carplay .
And adding to this a bit. There have been many people who talk about dropouts with music playback using wireless CP. I have found that the dropout is due to interference on what they call the projection WiFi connection used between the phone and the Sync system. It happens to me a lot, but it is always in the same locations. I believe this is due to some higher-powered radio signals at these locations that are present in these areas, causing the projected WiFi connection to fail for 1-3 seconds in my case as I pass through. As soon as I get through the interference area, the audio is restored.

I think some of the sources of this interference could be people running their home/business wifi access points/bridges at really high power. There are some point-to-point bridging solutions that can be set to drive up to and over 1 watt of power on their radio signals to get 8-10 miles range between stations. If you drive through one of these focused beams near either end of the bridged connection, you can/will get interference, thus potentially breaking your CP connection. The same can be true for some of the PtP microwave connections, but the radio wave beams for these connections are typically higher and have a very narrow focus to the receiving antenna.

Anyway, just thought I would share that quasi-related tidbit. Try to not blame CP when you get these dropouts, as it is really the nature of the wireless beast. There are a lot of people who set their wifi gear to transmit at max power regardless of whether lower power settings will do the job without. It's kind of like shouting at a person next to you when a whisper would have done the job without distrubing everyone else in the area.

I saw someone mention above that OTA updates only come over the TCU and not wifi? Is that correct? I have no cell phone reception at my house so I wonder if that's partially to blame? Does that mean that I need to happen to be in town when Ford chooses to push an update? Seems like a terrible system if so.
Correct; updates get downloaded through the modem and not wifi with the exception of two recent updates that require wifi to download. However, having a good or bad cellular signal will help or prevent an update from being sent to you. Once an update is sent, having a poor connection can affect the ability of the truck to download the files needed for the update, but you have to get an update sent to you first before the connection is a factor.

That is truly poor design especially since a lot of people who own trucks may live in rural areas, the kind of places that tend to have poor cellular reception.

Does anyone know where I can research or get assistance or purchase a tool to change / update the As Built Data for my 2016 F150? I am trying to get the truck to reflect that I have done the Sync3 conversation upgrade from Sync1. Does not seem as if I can update higher than 3.4 OR turn on any of the other features such as Global Entry or enable the Navigation in motion option. Any assist would be greatly appreciated. Happy Saturday.

this is insane that ford can just push an update that ruined the audio.

I get no audio worth while before 15 now. Phone calls and navigation are even worse 25

ford has to fix this or ill have to rip this system out

Will there be an update to get rid of the phantom update notification? This shows up every day saying an update will be installed, but there’s no update to be installed. It’s just a notification.

I posted in another thread about loss of volume from the software update. Interesting to me that the volume of the satellite and terrestrial radio now match the degraded audio level the blutooth and usb used to have. i initially wondered if maybe they know of some problem with the head units burning something out, and they are preemptively turning things down to protect them (obv. just a wild-***-guess, though).

I encountered the same issue during that time frame and didn't realize it could be caused by an update until I came across this post. Ford support guided me through the reset process, but unfortunately, my rear camera button remains disabled. I hope someone can assist and check my VIN: 1FTEW1CP9MFA25842 to see if an update did not go through correctly.

I have the same exact issue with B&O 8 speaker system. Got the update Friday afternoon and noticed it yesterday. You would think and hope Ford catches wind of this pretty quickly and sends an update to fix. This is really sad that they would send an update without thinking about the different systems out there.
