BTW you do NOT have to use a mongoose, I found a $150 option that works!

Used one of these for my updates.
You are showing ABS, IPMA, PSCM and PCM updates.

I wonder if the ones that are having issues is something to do with it being over the air or it only updating one of those two modules for audio?
Like if you only get one of the two, it makes it sound like crap but if you get both of them together, it makes it sound great….
strange.
Yes, is is fairly new. I did it to my truck about two weeks ago when it first showed up.

Not sure what the deal is with the audio update, but A LOT of people are complaining about it.

Interestingly enough while I had my wifi enabled, an update perhaps last November that didn't take might have turned the wifi off. So I've turned it back on, just because.

CP stopped working wireless a while ago. Going to let the system roll and see if anything happens.

In another forum, someone posted or sent me the SSM that describes what it does. I'll try to find it.

Interested in this, did you have any trouble at all using that cable? Shipping costs? Thanks

I would advise against using one of these cheap China cables, but I digress.

Agree it’s cheap, zero issues though, FDRS picks it up as a VCM3 without any headaches. Even updated using FDRS update tool. Leads me to believe it’s probably the same chipset in a non ford package. Didn’t give the wifi option a go, mainly because I couldn’t figure it out.

But it was enough to make the truck take the updates, and FDRS didn’t give me any grief.

to the individual who asked about shipping, it shipped out of NJ using a weird shipping company but USPS partners with them so it can’t be that bad. Took three weeks to get here but I watched every step!

Learning moment. Wireless carplay works well. Did a little research.

Carplay apparently uses Bluetooth for initial handshake, then wifi for data transmissions from your phone.

So if CP stops working check your carplay .

I think theres a clue in the update number, specifically the "6CH-AUD". It's like they pushed the stock 6 channel audio DSP preset to trucks with upgraded B&O systems.
I'm in the same boat as you all. I got the update two days ago and thought I was going crazy because it sounds bad and has reduced volume. I haven't had time to get on the forum until now and see that I'm not the only one.

I just had to bring my truck back to the dealer. Previously they swapped out the APIM and installed version 145. But then updates were failing again so I brought it in to just have them update to the current build. Instead, they updated to version 415 which I guess is going in the right direction but still 2 years old. And again I have no way of knowing if I'm receiving updates.

I saw someone mention above that OTA updates only come over the TCU and not wifi? Is that correct? I have no cell phone reception at my house so I wonder if that's partially to blame? Does that mean that I need to happen to be in town when Ford chooses to push an update? Seems like a terrible system if so.
