Software Updates
Will do? No, because Ford doesn't pay them to update modules.
Yes, my loaner program is still active. Lmk if you want me to add you to the waiting list.
If I were to purchase my own what would be the most cost effective way to do it? Does it require a ton of tools?
A new one is $540+tax. If you can find a used one on ebay or something, that will work, too, just make sure it is the correct one for Ford vehicles. Once you have the Mongoose, you still need to pay for access to FDRS. a two day license is $50 and it is enough time to get trucks fully updates most of the time. The other tools you need is a 32GB+ USB flash drive and a 10amp+ AGM battery charger.

rugedraw, I reset the BMS and threw the charger on for good measure which indicated a fully charged battery. The update appears to have been successful. Thanks for all of your help! Don't think it would have happened otherwise. No notification on the truck or Fordpass yet but when I checked under update details it says successful and the rear camera works again. Much appreciated!!!

Quick update on my struggle:
After keeping my truck ALL summer long (over 3 months, I took it back for a 3000-mile road trip. Truck did fine the whole trip. Once home again, back to the dealer it went. I'm now almost two weeks into this round, and the dealer reports no joy after installing the 2nd replacement APIM.
I am now driving my 4th loaner, a new '23 XLT 2.7EB. So far I've put around 5000 miles on loaners.
I don't understand why they don't provide for all these updates to be loaded by USB as a backup. The dealer should be able to download each update and load it via the dash port in the event OTA doesn't work..
Rugedraw, can you check my VIN and tell me what you see?VIN 1FTFW1EDXMFB53269
Much appreciation for what you do for the members here!
