The BC prep package means your truck shipped from the factory with the hardware for Bluecruise, but not the software as it was not ready at the time when the first batch of 2021 F150's were produced. These trucks were supposed to get Bluecruise naturally with a series of OTA updates, or enabled at the dealer using a specific process Ford made for this issue. However, for many trucks, both of these methods failed to do what they were supposed to do. The only way the dealer can get it working now is to involve Ford engineers.

Got this today. Estimated fuel to empty recalculated. Ford Maverick owners got something similar a couple of months ago. Wonder what it really does.

I just got another update related to my adaptive cruise and BlueCruise. Any idea what this latest one does? I've had BlueCruise 1.4 for several months now and I thought that system update was complete. It wasn't a huge update as it took 6 minutes to install. The description was the same as the description for the previous BC 1.4 updates.

Many people have reported it in the past few days. It is the config-only update that enables the BC 1.4 features if the first BC 1.4 update didn't do it. Most people that got the IPMA update got the firmware update, but the config that allowed the features to work asn't written. Those that have FORScan would be able to enable BC 1.4 if that was the case. If you already have functioning BC 1.4, this OTA did nothing for you. All vehicles are getting the update sent whether BC is working or not.

Thank you for the response, Rugedraw.
Unfortunately, I just found out that it actually broke something related to cruise control and speed sign recognition/predictive speed. It had been working pretty flawlessly before the update but now, when it sees the speed sign and changes the speed limit displayed on the speedometer, it does not reduce the cruise speed. I came into town on a 55 mph road and got behind a vehicle as the speed dropped to 30 mph. I followed the vehicle to a stop sign where I had to turn left as the vehicle in front went straight. As I got around the corner and engaged cruise control (still 30 mph speed limit) the truck immediately accelerated to 55 mph. I hit the brakes which disengaged cruise and when I engaged it again it engaged at 30. I continued out of town where it went to 45 and then to 55 and then exited the highway back onto a 30 mph road. Again the speed limit display showed 30 mph but the cruise went back to 55 mph! Prior to the update, everything worked properly.

Guess it is worth a call to Ford and express my disappointment because I consider this change to be a bit dangerous..

Edit...called Ford and they suggested a reset, which I should have thought of myself, so I went out, did the reset with the volume control and fast forward and then reran the same route I had the issue on. Everything worked properly, no more 55 mph accelerations on 30 mph roadways.

My truck has been stuck with an update for awhile and it wont proceed. It's taking up all the memory so every time I turn the truck on it cant remember the last settings and I get asked if I want to turn on the rear occupancy every morning. I haven't had a software update in almost a year.

Most likely low 12v battery charge, but message me the VIN and I can check.

I got your message. Something for sure is going on with your updates. What I am seeing on my side does not provide any helpful insight as to what the problem is, but right now, you have two OTA's sitting in your queue trying to install. If you look at your OTA history, both of these updates have been sent to you before and they time out and expire every time. You battery SoC has been at over 90% during the course of the active OTA trigger you have right now, and it does not even attempt ot install it which is not normal.

I would recommend disconnecting the negative cable from your 12v battery for 20 minutes to force a hard reset of everything. This may or may not affect the current update that is trying to install, but this many failed updates to a vehicle that does not seem to have any connecitivty issues is not normal.

Yikes. Okay, I will try that today when I get home from work. If this does not start to correct the issue, I'll have to make an appointment with my dealer. I have a few other things that need dealer attention anyway like my active air dam has not been active for the last 6 months. Thank you for looking.

Have to wonder whether the code soak on batteries in this massively frigid temps we have had plus snow days keeping us from driving far is affecting OTA success rates. Most of my updates seem to arrive during warmer weather.....
