Got a notification in the head unit that the truck is going “out of service “ (my words) for a few minutes overnight to allow a trailer light update. This isn’t the first one of those my late 21MY has received.
I haven't seen one of those in a while. Is your truck behind on updates, or is it a new one just released? What is the update number?
I have my truck in the shop because of the failure to install 1.7.0 and the greying out of some settings. The service advisor called and said there is nothing wrong with the system and everything is up to date. BS I know but was just wondering where the system is currently. Thanks

I remember your case. Total and complete bull sh*t. Your truck is on Sync 20262 which is software from the 262nd day of 2020. In the attached GSB (general service bulletin) that Ford sent to all dealers on 10/25/23, there is a pdf attached showing what the latest Sync version of all Ford connected vehicles should be which is Sync 23291 which is from the 232nd day of 2023. Six days ago on 1/3 at 9:41am eastern, somebody hooked up your truck to FDRS and did a network test. Had they checked the software updates tab in the toolbox of FDRS, it would show this list of modules pending updates for your truck in the first screenshot below. Since then, they haven't touched your truck. Your warranty expires 2/19/24, so now is the time to get this resolved.
Also attached is TSB 22-2404 for APIM modules that do not update, and this is the one that will matter to them, because it will allow them bill Ford for the work required to fix your APIM issue. I quote from the TSB:
Issue: For some 2021 Mustang Mach-E, F-150, Edge, Nautilus and Bronco vehicles technicians may experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM), telematics control unit (TCU) or gateway module (GWM) using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. The PTS – OTA Dashboard on vehicles with this condition may also display multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, and/or a no OTA history message. In addition, on vehicles with this condition, the customer may have reported experiencing a Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass/LincolnWay. This may be due to an internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update and/or recover the APIM/TCU.
Below the FDRS screenshot is another screenshot of your OTA dashboard showing a failed APIM update in August. Both the FDRS and PTS screenshot show your VIN for reference.
Call your service advisor and respectfully request to speak to the service manager. Tell him nicely that you have a friend in Florida who is a lead tech at a Ford store who took a look at your truck and recognized a problem that he is familiar with. Tell him you have no idea what everything I told you meant, but ask him for his email address so you can forward him what I found. Once you have it, message me and I will compose an email that you can forward him in lingo he will understand. Be prepare to be without your truck for a for at least a few more days. Chances are, they will just order a new APIM for you instead of fixing your current one. That's fine, too.
If you go in there saying that someone from an internet forum said blah blah blah, they will not pay attention to you.
Are you saying you don't have Bluecruise at all? Your OTA history shows you are missing the 6.x.x updates, but the update for the new version of bluecruise has not been released to any F150 yet.

Thank you for checking! I’ve never gotten the blue cruise update. Back in spring 2023 it failed several times due to low battery, but after I replaced the battery I haven’t received the same update again. I wonder if they can push it through OTA to me again. My truck was built in Feb 2021

Your situation should not be too difficult to address. Call your dealer and set an appt. Tell them your truck still does not have BC activated and tell them that campaign 21G01 for BC activation is listed active under your VIN. The dealer should be able to get your BC activated fairly easy using that config program.

Thanks for all this info. I’m at the dealership now. They’re “looking” again. I’ll let you know what happens.
I've read through most of this very long thread, but I don't think I've seen my exact situation before.
I have a 2021 Job 1 F-150 with the BlueCruise prep package, but I still can't seem to get BlueCruise working. It used to show up as "Coming Soon" in Connected Services online and in FordPass, but that's disappeared in the last week or two. About Sync shows "Hands-free driving mode available through 10-03-2074", but there's no other evidence of BlueCruise in FordPass or in the vehicle.
I've had it at 5 different dealerships over the last 3 years, and none have managed to get it to work. Ford says the dealer has to do it, the dealer says they can't do anything more. The dealer says there are no updates available, but I'm on Sync 23159_PRODUCT (rev. 915) and navigation version 2.76.3r.20220923.a19d9e6c (my free navigation subscription expired on Dec 21st, 2023).
My VIN is 1FTFW1E81MFA03568. Any suggestions and guidance would be highly appreciated

Well I earned my first update failed. Haven't been behind the wheel much this last week. Been under the weather. But we did get out and about a bit yesterday. But I suspect the battery is undercharged.
