The waiting list for one of my Mongooses is 2 months + right now. I can add you if you want. When I get to you, if you don't need it, I will go on to the next person. Lmk.

Does this mean I have 14 waiting updates? If so, is this a visit dealer or borrow Mongoose cable and purchase/use FDRS?

I'd say more than 14. Certain updates there need to be done before other updates are released. The dealer will not help as Ford does not pay them to perform modules updates unless it is part of a recall or TSB. If you don't want to wait for OTA, the Mongoose is the only way.

No, I did not mean for that to rhyme, but I kinda like it.

@rugedraw thanks for the information. Will the updates come by OTA at some point or to I need to figure out how to get the Mongoose, what order to update the modules, and buy a short-term FDRS license?

Default VIN Check

Would you be able to please check my VIN for the latest software update? Screen shots attached. I got a blank stare from the service advisor when I asked during a recent service visit to the dealer. Thank you.

Yes, they will come in eventually, but no way of knowing when. It can be a week, or a month or longer before the next one is sent. Or you can get one sent today. The process is random.

The last OTA you got was 3.5.2 in May of this year. The next update you are due is the one that gives you full-screen carplay/android auto. You are pretty far behind. I do not know why your tuck has not been sent any updates, but there is nothing wrong with your truck. The problem is with Ford's crappy OTA process. You service advisor is most likely clueless about the OTA issues these newer Ford's go through. Also, Ford does not pay dealers to perform module updates, so the dealer won't do it because nobody likes to work for free. You have to either continue to wait, or invest in the tools needed to update the truck yourself. You can try and get your dealer to do it, but very few have had success with that.

Forums are a VALUABLE tool. I am not saying beleive everything you read on the web but there is A LOT of good information on this site and others. Information where the common person (like myself) would never be able to get our hands on without people like you. So Thank you again!

Well.....you called it. I told them I was NOT paying for anything as far as the update feature is concerened. I get the call and my excellent service writer says the mechanic has charged you one hour of his time (150 dollars). I told them I was not paying it and the service writer said he would be an hour short on his time and asked me if i was ok with it.
I went in armed with all the information you armed me with and he said and i quote " I plugged my android phone in and it played music just fine". He also said that the reason it wont update is that some of the files are "too big" to be downloaded over WiFi. WTF!? LOL is he serious? Needess to say I will never take my truck back to them as that is a joke. I mean....why have an update feature that connects to WiFi if i cant use it or i have to pay them anwhere from 2 hours labor to 8 hours labor to update it?

They did the 3 recalls that were listed on my truck. I am afraid of their work quality to be honest.

They did pull the GSB I sent you to determine the latest Sync level, but the tech did nothing in terms of updating your modules or even trying to and I did not expect them to do so. All they did was some pin-point tests for XM satellite radio and some speaker audio test. Whatever they did as far as the recalls ago I cannot see until the tech notes get posted and that can take a bit.

Not a single update released to date for these newer Ford connected vehicles requires wifi to download and install, so that is BS.

Again: Service Advisors are not properly trained on these issues to no fault of theirs. I don't have a problem with them not knowing about it and/or how to fix it. My problem was with his attitude. I didn't believe the info I gave you would not get them to do anything because Ford won't pay them to do what needs to be done. A GSB is not something that can bill Ford for......GSB and FYI is the same thing. I just wanted him to think twice before he calls out the forums. Everything I know I learned on the forums and from several brilliant people that I met via the forums. He needs to stay in his lane as far as that goes.

Edit: You're out of warranty. Your only hope of getting this fixed is to call Ford Customer Care and open a case. The info I gave you won't help with them because whoever answers the phone is just a person that answers the phone and not a person trained to know about these issues. It's a long shot, but aside from that, the only fix is you buying an APIM that is properly configured to your truck and either installing it yourself or paying the dealer to do it.

Mine won't even allow me to turn on automatic updates anymore. It's been like this for over a year. I've given up bothering. As long as my truch works fine and no issues come of this then screw it!

Then your truck is also on Sync 20301 and will be stuck there forever if nothing is done about it.
