Well, you went backwards in terms of software status. That truck is on the bad Sync 20301 software known to break the OTA process. That truck has not gotten an update in 2.5 years and will not get updates without dealer the dealer swapping out the APIM or manually updating it. Does it allow you to set an auto-updates schedule, or is the button grayed out? If it is grayed out, a Mongoose may not be enough to recover the module. If you can set auto-updates, you may be able to recover the module yourself with an FDRS an spend an entire weekend updating the truck to get it up to date.

Edit: I use dark mode so I was not able to see the VIN you posted earlier.

Just had a new APIM/Sync version show up. Installed it successfully - now at 23291 Revision 1049. No obvious changes.

It's GWM update which is short and sweet......it'll take a few minutes to install. When you turn on the truck, go to the screen where you check for updates and it will tell you.
I left my truck running until it decided to shut itself off, I’m assuming it did the software update. When I go to the “system update” screen it is now blank with a scroll bar, no information listed at all. I’m guessing it’s trying to settle the software update?

I’ve tried crashing Sync a couple of times, even did the crash to force software updates trick. Still no information on the screen, I feel like it did the same thing when it did its update on Nov 1st.

the app and the Ford site do not indicate that an update has been completed however, not sure if it would show a GWM update there though..

Are you able to take a Quick Look and see if it’s pending still or if it reports that it’s been completed? Maybe a new update is on the way as well? (Praying)

thank you!

It shows that the files were downloaded successfully, but it has not tried to install it yet. Next time you turn your truck on, it should do it. You don't have to leave it on that long. 10 minutes should be more than enough.

Thats so strange, I had it running for like 20 minutes the other day.

does the truck look for anything specific? Doors locked vs unlocked? On wifi? Etc

No, the locked doors only apply to updates that require the vehicle to be inhibited. When you started the truck, it triggered file downloads, but not the install. The next key cycle should do the trick. Internet connection is fine. All the files are downloaded onto the truck already.

@AndyMac17 : Updates really do get "activated" while driving. So just get out there and have fun.

It seems that so far this EL apim s/w update is only rolling out to MY21 F150s with KF/KG apims.
