Hey @rugedraw , I've been lurking on these pages for a few months, and I was inspired to create an account. If you are still willing to help out with update checks, my 2021 Job1 seems to receive updates just fine. I have full screen Android Auto and Alexa (whatever that's worth), but the one thing I want I can't do: cameras in motion. I'm heading to the dealership in the morning to have them look at it, but apparently it's not a warranty issue so it may be out of pocket.

Just curious if your expertise would identify why I can't do this one thing that should have started working with the updates I did receive. If they want to charge and arm and a leg for updates, then I may go the Mongoose route.

I see you got all of the 4.2.x updates. I don't remember which one it is, but one of those updates broke the cameras in motion option for many people. If you have FORscan, you can most likely turn it back on. If you prefer not to mess with it, OTA 4.3.6 is the one that restores the function. It is an APIM update, but there is no way of knowing when it will be sent to you.

No issues doing Forscan, but would prefer to have things 'work' before I go making changes. I'll see what the dealer says. I'll at least get some recalls sorted while I'm there.

You sir, are a rockstar. Thanks!

The dealer can't help you. Your truck is already on Sync 23159 and you have no APIM update pending in FDRS. As it is, there is zero chance you will get that OTA sent to you. List of modules pending updates is below, and you have a lot. As you can see, there is no APIM update there, so they have no way of getting the update on your truck. It is not populating in Ford's servers for your truck. FORscan may be the only way to get it back. One of the changes needed to make in FORscan to enable it are in the IPMA, and you are showing an IPMA update. Did it work for you before and it stopped, or it never worked on your truck at all? If it never worked at all, the IPMA update you show pending may have to be installed before it works, but I can't say for sure. IPMA updates take hours and Ford does not pay dealers to update modules. I would not have high hopes that they get this working for you.

Cameras in motion have never worked. I'll go down rabbit holes ever so often to see if there's any magical fix as I've had a feeling I was missing more than just cameras in motion. Last time I tried the FORscan route, the changes didn't enable the cameras, so I reverted the settings. Maybe I should have let it bake for a while. I've been attempting the "just be patient" route, but each update that comes through makes my eye twitch a bit more.

This is super helpful, thanks again. I'll do a bit more reading around the threads to better understand this process as I'm still a bit curious how (if?) these updates are applied via OTA. I'm going to a new dealership that seems to be way more helpful than the previous one I spoke with. Maybe they could at least educate me.

Sounds like I may be investing in a cable soon.

If it never worked, chances are that you need that IPMA update in order to be able to enable it in FORscan.

@rugedraw, just wanted to share an update and thanks again! went in to the dealer today and though I don’t think they successfully updated everything they did get the APIM to take a slightly newer version (22177_PRODUCT Revision: 473) and a few other associated updates to get it there.

Not updated quite far enough to fix the Pro Trailer Backup, but the software seems to have let me schedule updates now so I’m hoping that, going forward, I’ll wake up to a never ending string of OTA updates that make all my dreams come true!

Thank you again for helping me to get to this point, I wouldn’t have been able to point my dealer in the right direction without your help!

Yes, you should be good to go now. Glad to hear. Updates will start coming in now, but it's not a streamlined process. It's not like flipping a switch where the floodgates open and updates start pouring in.

Rugedraw, as everyone before me, I hate to ask, but…Could you check my truck?
Sync screen states that I’m up to date, but I can’t see the version number or toggle the auto updates on.

TIA!

Same situation that @MrWhisky and many other early build 2021 owners have faced. Your truck is on Sync 20301 which is old software from 2020 known to break the OTA process. It is the same software your truck left the factory with when it was built on April of 2021. Without dealer intervention, your truck will never get an update. You need to schedule an appt with your dealer and tell them your truck has never gotten an update and you cannot set an auto-update schedule. They need to manually update your APIM or diagnose it as faulty and replace it with a new one. Either or will solve the problem, but 99% of the time, they will swap out the APIM as the procedure to update it in the state it in requires special cables that most dealers do not have.
