Software Updates
Dealer has had my truck since May 25th trying to replace the APIM and get OTA updates working. No success at all. Now waiting for another APIM that is said to be on national backorder.
The service advisor called and asked if I wanted to get my truck back until the part comes in. I told her "Let's give it another week". Sure enough, the power went out at home last night and I had to borrow a generator from my neighbor because my PB with 7.2kw was unavailable. I'll be picking it up this week.
I had asked the service writer since they had my truck and could not do anything, to at least get that transmission update done per the TSB,. She agreed to do that.
Can someone check to see if that has been done before I pick it up?

Either way, I looked through your vehicle history between now and June, and no FDRS updates have been done to your truck.
Any chance someone could do a lookup for VIN: 1FTFW1E83MFA19822 ?
- Check for Update in vehicle shows current/up-to-date, can't seem to Schedule Updates (won't Save anything)
- Tried Submitting Feedback in vehicle I saw someone post about a few times, still no updates
- https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/ shows Sync Version: 4.0.20262 (which I thought was one people had reported being 'stuck' on)
- Dealer attempted updates a few times several months ago (like 3 or 4 times)... all failed to complete
- Any other ideas?

I received a notification that 4.3.4 would be installed last night, but it failed, just like most of the other updates in the past. Just wondering what may have caused the failure.
Thanks!

Yes, Sync 20262 and 20301 is software well known to break the OTA process. The last OTA your truck recorded was in December of 2020. The dealer would have to apply TSB 22-2404 for APIMs that do not update. Chances are, that will fail, too and they will order a new APIM for your truck. Without that, your truck will most likely never get another update.
You are not alone. I just have the 400w and there are others getting the update too without propower. I don't think it hurts anything to have it installed.
It is supposed to pop up a message on your dash screen if you try to shift out of park with something plugged into bed outlets. That is all this update does. No clue why there is reference to shifting.

I used my 400w inverter to charge my SxS offroad radio the other day for the first time while moving to another riding area.

Edit: I believe this is the updated version of OTA 2.8.1. This would explain why Ford started pushing out the 3.5.x updates to trucks that had not received all the 2.x.x updates yet.

Yes, that was exactly my thought someone somewhere drove off dragging their power tools or whatever else down the road behind them and blamed Ford for it.
Wait......4.3.4? Interesting! That's a new OTA as far as I know. It is updates the IMPA and PSCM and requires the vehicle to be inhibited for 2.5 hours according to PTS. It is failing to install due to insufficient battery charge. That was a common issue with OTA 2.8.1 that also required 2.5 hours of down-time. I suggest driving your truck for a good half hour before you park it and attached an 10amp+ AGM battery tender to it while it installs over night.
