I looked all over for this and still scratching my head.
What is a PMI, and what does it do?
Is it not a normal part of the APIM replacement procedure?

it's the process to write/rewrite the module when it's new/broken. like reformatting in a way.

Also, I will check out your other thread. Thank you so much for sharing that link as well in addition to everything else you have helped with!
No way to tell. I have been following these issues for a year and a half and have not been able to find any systematic way in which these updates are sent out.

It is supposed to be a normal part of the APIM replacement procedure. However, from what I have seen, techs do fail to do it more times than I care to admit. While Ford provides comprehensive instructions on how to do this, all the steps are not always followed. See attached GSB from Ford regarding Sync programming. One of the first things is says is that a PMI is required with any APIM replacement. Sometimes, the PMI fails and you may need to troubleshoot and jump through hoops to get the PMI to go through. This is where most techs give up and just release the truck without the PMI done causing all kinds of configuration issues. It's a long read, but a good read if you want to try and understand what techs go through when these modules refuse to program properly.

Interesting indeed - thanks for that.

Well I seem to be stuck at 3.5.2 (since Oct 2022). Not sure if there is an issue, but if someone could check on my 21 F150, VIN 1FTFW1E59MFC29069, I would greatly appreciate it.

Has anyone dared to install the ABS and PCM updates that recently showed up in FDRS?

3.5.3 was sent to your truck twice in May and it failed both times. The OTA trigger timed out before it was able to download all the files it needed for the update. This is a very common problem with this particular update. There is nothing you did wrong, nothing you could have done different and nothing you can do but wait for it to be resent and hope for better luck next time.

Will someone kindly look up my update history? My VIN is 1FTFW1E88MFA07469 . My system has only updated one time in 2 1/2 years that I know of back in January when it updated to 1.4.0. This morning I saw the download sign on my screen. However under updates it still shows 1.4.0. and no Fordpass messages. The auto update screen no longer has a date but it allowed me to add one. But you can’t select the auto update toggle to on. Thanks
