No OTA history in the past 60 days and no OTA in your queue at this time. You are on Sync 22177, so you are a bit behind when it comes to updates. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to get an update sent to you and your dealer won't help because Ford does not pay them to install module updates. You are at the mercy of waiting for Ford to push the next update to you.

Dumb *** question.

I've always assumed that updates were only done over wifi links. Can they use built in cell phone connection as well?

Wondering based on @Independence Driver 's comment that the GPS and XM went down. I had that happen on one long distance run and assumed that the head unit was overheating after being on the road for 14 hours in 90 degree weather all systems being used......

Up until this day, not a single OTA Ford has released requires wifi to download and install. The only reason so have your truck on wifi is if you live in an rural area where there is poor cellular service.

That's good to know. Makes be feel better about that service shut down I experienced.

Hopefully the two or three files my truck hasn't yet received on 3.5.3 update will arrive sometime soon.

From the countless trucks I have checked, if that particular update gets hung up on the file download process, it rarely goes through. I don't know what it is about that update that is so problematic to download. Sure, it is a fairly large download (about 5.7 gigs), but in the grand scope of things and with today's tech, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Just in response to the wifi, even though they are not using it for pushing updates out, they are using it for something though. I have noticed after the truck is shut off data is mostly uploaded over the wifi. If I shut the wifi off for a couple of days and then turn it back on, how much it uploads gets larger too, so they must be using it to upload some kind of technical data to them. I have not gotten to the point yet of pulling out my networking tools to trace where the data is going but I can see on my wifi system that the truck is uploading something after each drive, then the wifi goes to sleep...

I will go one step further. On the last updates, I swear that they all came via cellular. I have my truck connected to my home wifi. Had no activity at all across the wifi to the truck per my Eero monitoring, then took a 1.5 hour drive and viola, 3.5.3 update came in and was applied. Same thing happened for 3.5.4... I read a few others who reported similar experience with those 2 updates.

I will say this latest unnumbered update that changes the mirror heaters seemed to come in via wifi. So it is all hit-n-miss with no consistency. I'll just be happy to get what I get... ;-)
