Software Updates
Ford uses ATT. You can set the update to be grabbed at a time good for you. Dealer may or should check for any updates before delivery.
Most of us set updates to happen at night. You can also connect your truck to wifi as well. I connected at home and multiple hotels I've been to when on the road. Laugh any time I get to a hotel and it recognizes the wifi network.

Do Sync updates affect vehicle performance or safety? I know that Sync is an interface for controlling different features of the truck, but I was wondering if these over the air updates have anything to do with modifying software related to drive train performance or vehicle driving aids.

2.1.0 went through, and 2.1.1 was sent to you a half hour ago. It is in you queue right now to download the files and install.
Setting an update schedule only affects OTA's that require the vehicle to be parked and inhibited while the update installs. If the update you get sent does not require the vehicle to be parked, it will install as soon as it downloads regardless of what time you have it set for.
It can, yes. PCM updates are available OTA and they affect vehicle drivability. There are also updates that can affect the performance of cameras, sensors and/or other components that work with the safety features built into the truck.

@rugedraw , this is what I heard back from my local dealer after asking how the technicians verified I was at the latest sync version. Does this make since?
Hey bud good morning, i spoke with the technician and he said we verified by: hooking up ids/fdrs, performing network test then if it has an update available it will show update avail. Yours did not show an update avail (Or we would have def done it)
Reply STOP to OptOut

Btw: I just got 4.2.1 downloaded and installed onto my truck while out on a quick drive. Once I parked, I saw a Fordpass notification on my app. This is the first Power-Up OTA my truck has gotten in almost a year since I manually updated with FDRS on two separate occasions to be up to date.
