Default Some OTA's have unlisted confusing revisions

This may explain why some people in some threads are getting what they perceive to be OTA software downgrades
Ford created a way to make OTA updates even more confusing LOL.

Owners can't see which files the OTA packages contain, so at face value it looks like a downgrade is being installed. In this case, updated files are being installed but they reused the old package header.

I took my truck to the dealer to get some of the recalls done. One being the trailer brake module. The dealer performed this update on June 2nd. A week later on June 9th, I get queued up the follow-up trailer module update that comes via OTA. It downloaded but failed install due to "software mismatch" and as far I can see, it has not tried to install again. On June 9th, I also get queued up for 2.7.3 via OTA. My OTA dashboard states it failed to install 2.7.3 three times, yet when I go into my truck and go into the updates menu on the touch screen, it tells me 2.7.3 is the latest update that has installed, and this has been the case since June 9th. My dashboard still says OTA retry is pending since the last time it failed on 6/21. I feel like my truck is stuck on a loop trying to install an update on itself that it already has.

To be honest, BlueCruise is not that important to me. I am more interested in the trailer module being up to date the camera unlock feature. The last time I took the boat out was right before I took it to the dealer, and I was getting trailer faults popping up on my dash literally every 5 seconds. I'm taking the boat out this Sunday for the fist time since the dealer updated the TRM, but I am not sure if the second TRM that came via OTA went through or not since my dashboard says it failed. However, it also says 2.7.3 failed, yet my truck says it has it. All I want is for my truck to not sound like a damn pinball machine while I am towing. It was really annoying.

I have the same issue as you. On 6/30/22 I got two Fordpass messages about an hour apart saying 2.7.3 failed. The truck says it is installed. It's had no update activity since then. I had others check the FDRS and it says the update failed, no reason why..

A little background, I had the dealer repair the greyed out auto update button on 14 June using CSP22B08. Since then the truck received OTA updates on 6/15, 6/21, 6/24, 6/27, and the trailer break recall update by OTA on the 29th I think. That put it at 2.7.1, 22087, and 415. Then the "failure" on 6/30 of 2.7.3. So it skipped 2.7.2, which I have been told my non BC Powerboost should receive. If anyone can give me additional insight it would be greatly appreciated. Now I have a question. I have a erro router. How many wireless connections does the truck have I think it has two. The photo shows shows one of the two, can anyone shed some light, on this.

Your truck is only showing 1 update available in FDRS and that's for ACM (audio control module) so your TRM should be fine.

If you have a 2022 truck though, you probably have nearly the newest possible. It seems most 2022 owners are just missing 2.8.3 depending when in 2022 their truck was built. Ford hasn't released other updates lately aside from fixes for the trailer brake controller and other more specific fixes.
I have the 12 inch instrument cluster display and on Saturday the instrument cluster reset itself back to default settings (My View reset and the Boost gauge changed back to Trans Temp). I have a 2021 Job 1 truck and I was curious if the instrument cluster resetting was due to an update or a bug but I can't tell. I little more transparency from Ford would be nice.

rugedraw, I also notice an error about the active air dam. I removed that, should I worry about it. I can plug the motors back in if you think the dealer will have a fit...

Interesting. My truck skipped 2.7.2, as well. I wonder if this has something to do with why mine has failed to install three times? Yours only failed to install once and the retry is pending. You just gotta wait and hope it goes through. Just like my truck, there is no clear reason as to why it failed in the update notes.

well, I can shed a little. I have eero too and will, at times have 2 connections that show up. They correspond to the 2 MAC addresses that are listed under the About Sync screen. One is active much more often than the other, going active whenever I start the truck or use Ford Pass to lock/unlock. The other seems to only go active every so often, and can go weeks between showing up. That less active one last got on my eero on June 3rd, so over a month ago. That is about all I know.

As for the data that goes over each, that I am not sure but do know that when I got one OTA update months ago, it came across the more active MAC interface as best as I can recall. My truck had been in the OTA/program hell and spent weeks at the dealer trying to get BC working so most modules were programmed via FDRS, thus no OTAs recently.

Oh, I don't know. Not sure if that violates your warranty. They are always looking for reasons to deny claims, though. I would put them back in and not give them any reason to say no to a repair. When I say "they" I mean Ford itself. If they deny the dealer's warranty claim, you would have to pay out of pocket for "modifying" your truck.
