I use the 5G side of our wifi. Truck receives sort of a mid range signal strength in the garage but I've not had issues thus far. This latest update now allows for scheduled updates to occur on multiple nights of the week. Hopefully that will mean more frequent updates to follow as they become available.

I just switched mine from 5 to 2.4 this morning. It was definitely connected to 5, but only had "fair" signal strength in my driveway. I know it needs good reception to download updates over wifi.

My network uses band steering, and it steered it to 2.4G on mine. I have not had any issues with it when it works. After OTA 1.7.1 my WiFi connectivity became really flakey, but after TSB 21-2249 was done and the IPMA was reset, and the modules were loaded by the dealer with the module updates, it all worked well again. Connection seems stable on that front. Not sure that in my case having a faster connection would help as my limit is more my ISP connection. I get ~35Mbps to the truck when it is downloading OTAs, so that should be more than sufficient, I hope...

Is anyone else having issues with SecurAlert schedules? I have mine set for 10pm-6am and they. had been working fine for about the last month. Now they are activated 24/7 again. I look at FordPass app and it says it is scheduled to come on at 10pm... Tried turning it off/on. Still no luck. It had done this while OTA 1.7.1 had been downloading, so hoping I am in process of receiving another OTA and this once again is just some side effect of that update process happening... Thanks all!

The inherent nature of 802.11a (5Ghz) is that it allows for a broader spectrum of channels to reduce congestion/interference and of course higher bandwidth than the 2.4Ghz wifi. But 802.11b (2.4Ghz) does have a longer signal range. Mine is connected to the 5Ghz wifi from my home router that is roughly 35 feet in distance with brick/windows between the 2. Signal is weak but it does work fine for software updates. Moral of the story is that if you have more distance between your truck and the router/modem, then connect to the 2.4Ghz side of your wifi for better signal reliability.

When I first purchased my Job 1, I was happy to see that when I started my massage seats, the control screen would eventually time-out and return to Car Play. Since I received 2.3, when I activate my seat massage, the control screen stay up and I have to physically switch back to CarPlay. Anyone know if there is something that can be tweaked in Forscan to bring the timeout back???

Default 2021 Job 1 vs Job 2 Trailer Backup Assistance

I have a 2021 Job 1 and it came with the trailer sensor (box w/wires). I am assuming job 2 trucks come with a set of trailer stickers. I want to get stickers and add some trailers but I am trying to figure out if my truck will finally recognize the sticker. I can't test this because my truck didn't come with stickers... don't want to buy any until I know it finally works.

My Job 1 truck owners manual says

"Note: If your vehicle came with a trailer sensor kit, the vehicle will receive an update that allows the system to operate with a sensor or sticker. "
  1. Do Job 2 trucks work with trailer stickers?
  2. Does anyone know if the OTA fix for Job 1s has been sent out?
  3. If so, what OTA version included it... and when?
  4. Does anyone have a Job 1 successfully working with stickers?
  5. Does anyone know where there is a comprehensive list of Job 1 vs Job 2 capabilities? I know cameras at speed. I suspect trailer backup assist. Anything else?

That would be a Job 1 truck like mine. I think they switched over to the Job 2 designation in the Aug-21 timeframe and those trucks have Blue Cruise already enabled. At least this is my understanding of how it lays out.

My February 2021 build F-150 XLT (Group 302A) came with the wired sensor that I have mounted on my travel trailer. It also came with a bunch of the stickers. Since I don't think my truck has ever gotten any of the OTA firmware updates, I have never tried to see if the stickers work.
