Thinking
Ha maybe indiana will dodge a bullet. My house was not built for negative degree weather... between the wife freezing constantly, toilets/showers/sinks literally freezing, drafts coming out the wazoo and a gas bill $50 higher than normal I'm ok staying in the teens/20s for the rest of winter
Home depot has these cool little heaters that plug right into the outlet, no cord. They're 28 bucks apiece and really kick out some heat. You can set the temp on them. Thing is for me anyway, I'm not there and don't dare leave anything like that plugged in without being there.
Well, when we were getting -30 wind chills the fireplace went out, it's just an insert. Anyway, I pulled it out and all the wiring behind it, TV, power antenna and stereo had a coating of frost on them lol. No kidding, the space behind the fireplace was at 15*, the floor was less. This sits in the slide out which isn't insulated all that well. It wasn't , is now lol.
The kitchen sink has it's own tank, that's froze, well might not be now, doesn't get used so it doesn't have much water in it, probably why it froze lol.
Since it's been in the high 30/40's, the thing is just sipping the propane now, after all the insulating anyway. But man, if it gets below 15, shiii freezes up.
That's what I have to do, it is the last resort. Iduno, guess it's worth it..core 2 duo 3.0. Dragging my feet on it tho lol. I have to make a drivers CD then fresh copy. I can get pics and docs, not sure if I can save some of the pricey programs. It's been sitting here for a couple weeks now lol.
Anyway, after this BS, I want to have NTFS on the new drive so I can easily do anything I need to with it. So I ordered just an 8TB external drive, and a 3 year data recovery warranty for a few extra bucks.
This is what I got:
Even with the issues I've had with this WD drive, I still prefer them. Seagate's I have had horrible luck with, Maxtor.... yuck. I like Toshiba's, but they are not very popular. Don't even know if IBM still makes Deskstars?

Ran it through the WD program, and this time it found no bad sectors. Threw it back in the case, and same thing. So, with that said, I changed my order on Amazon. I am going to just use a regular external drive and run it out of my router. I've got an old 400GB plugged into it right now that I can stream movies off of.

I'm running my OS and programs on my desktop off of a Sandisk SSD. I back it up on a 1.5 TB WD Green. Also have a WD Blue in there for additional storage. Might need to try the Samsung drives. I definitely am a Samsung fan. I love their TV's and phones.
BTW, Sandisk and WD are in cahoots somehow on the SSD's. When I called WD about my drive, they had an option to talk to support about WD or Sandisk SSD's.
LOL.... decided to Google it. Somehow I missed this merger of the two companies.

That Amazon set up looks nice. Hope you have good luck with it. The WD's that failed on me were SATA.

It's 120GB. Older than I thought 2013.
